What's an Autopsy? Is it the same as a Post Mortem? I don't speak American so would be grateful for an accurate translation.

Autopsy is the procedure both here & across the pond, post mortem (after death) is when it’s carried out.

Result of independent autopsy was that he had no underlying health issues despite official autopsy saying that he had a heart problem. It also says he was asphyxiated which the other said he wasn't. Just saw the official independent report on CNN.

A copy-and-paste from Collins dictionary

1. countable noun
A post-mortem is a medical examination of a dead person's body in order to find out how they died.
The word autopsy means “to see with one’s own eyes” post mortem literally means “after death” both terms are used in the uk, neither terms are American, autopsy is greek post mortem is latin.
