HELP

will this do ya?

How did you get over the running problem, since removing my fairing the bloody thing wont excelerate, new filter, plugs etc runs fine in low gears at low speed even wheelies pretty good in 1st-2nd but try get it to work on the motorway, no chance, feels like its running out of petrol diaphram is ok, no blocked pipes, vaccume healthy and filter clean, still got standard pipes / air box scared to change anymore till i solve this problem, is it a jetting issue due to the lack of Ram Air induction? or is there an electronic doohicky that needs fooling about with? its driving me (or not !!) to drink. help me if you can. anyone???

sorry for late reply...haven't been on here for a while.

the bike hates moving air ...you need to reroute the inlets so they draw from behind the frame.(like an X11) the 'ram air' effect completely messes with the jetting..

on the dyno it'll run nice n sweet..but get over 15-20 mph on the road and it'll brickwall. My jets are big as buckets and still I needed to re-route.

if you look down my inlets you'll see some gaffer tape that I used to block the airflow...bit of a bodge just before the TT...but it worked. will do it properly when I strip down and rebuild over winter ( with a new front end and Ohlins rear shock...and decent paint!)

all the joy of building non-standard bikes:bang:

thanks, ill give it a try there was talk of detenation and blowing holes in pistons! shit the life out of me, but this sounds more viable (and cheaper) do you still have an air box fitted or are you on individual filters? ( sorry to keep bothering you but i dont have contact with anyone else who has completed a bird fighter!)

Genius,@tu* it works! running like a dream now thanks pal even managed a bit of m-way cruising im thinking of blocking the holes in the front of the air box and drilling holes in the back end of it to draw the air over the back of the frame, ill let you know how it goes!!

thats exactly what my mate did to his blade (in the picture next to my bird) when he had the similar problem.

Talking from my brother's experience, its a never ending build.
Good luck with the re-build. Did you have much trouble getting the VFR swinger into the bird frame ( ive been offered a whole rear end, swinger, wheel, disc and caliper for ?100) so before i buy i want to make sure it wont bugger the handling.

if its the 750 arm it goes straight in..20-22mm spacer job done ( google it or head to a blade forum)

the bird and the blade use the same engine cases...they are the same at the back of the engine

you'll just have to work out the off centre shock mount...scratch your head a few times and you'll work it out...;-0))

airflow on injected streetfighter version?

Hi there, have almost got my bird conversion ready for MOT. Got knocked off last May so decided to do something different. I've managed to get an R1 front end on (got the idea from one of you on here), full akrapovic, rearsets and air filter. The rest is the same as its ran out of money and I want it ready for the Wirral eggrun on 17th April.

Anyway does anyone know if mine will suffer the same airflow problems as mine is the injected version?

Cheers

Yes, with the air tubes missing the air flow to filter will be reduced.. hence Honda fitted air tubes. Even fitting mesh across the air intakes to the tubes affects performance on the Injected bird.

Hi Silverfox,
No it seems to run just fine without the ram air ducts.

I've fitted a k&n and full Akrpovic race sustem so I dont know if thats helping. It still pulls (your arms off) very cleanly and fuel consumption hasnt changed much either.

Cheers
