Hi
Just a little advise needed really im currently making a streetfighter bird which hopefully should not be too long before its on the road :) But i was wondering if i removed the clock cluster would it stop the bike from working ( as in is there a hidden control unit in there that would not let the bike start???) as i was intested in buying just a small aftermarket one as the bird clocks are a wee bit too big on a fighter.

Any advice or comments would help as i dont what to cut them out then find out that i need them and have to buy a new set or whatever.

Is it a EFI or carb model? If its a Efi model only thing I can think of is you won't see the FI light and diagnostic codes....Think its only the sender unit nexto the ignition that would cause the bike not to start if removed??? might be wrong but jaws will surely correct me :)

Thats one of the blackbird's that give me the idea to streetfighter mine. I was going to make it a single seat like above but the ducati seat unit come up for a fair price so i had that. I might make two rear ends a single seat and a duel as the rear is only bolted on?????????........... Plus i love the toe cutter like Helmet like in Mad Max!!!!

Im the same i gonna leave it till the bad weather back then its a late SV 1000 rear end and a headlight with fairing off a Late Z1000 all satin black, net over the tank etc etc not too sure what to do with the clocks/rad, that clock looks the b#ll#cks!!! where? and how much?? does it have neutral light ?? dyou think X11 binnacle would have the same wiring??? sorry but ive not come across anyone wanting to fighter a bird they all go for the R1 Blade combo or down the (yawn) bandit road.

that will look lovely im a big fan on the SV rear just not on SV's lol and i LOVE Z1000's all of them ( maybe not the 2010 one looks a bit shit) since Mad Max till now and satin black what im finking of doing or maybe matt black thats still a way of yet so not to worrie i got the clock for digital speedos.com ill copy a link below its was just of £100 with P&P wtich is goodplus it lights in blue still no pics of that yet ( still not dragged my arse to do it yet) but will have soon looks very easy to mount and install which is a plus. Also does ANYONE know where i can get a massive headlight for about £50-£100 for the front i have seen harley ones but there silly money about 8'' would be spot on.

Have a look at this!!! http://www.streetfightersinc.com/images/GemoCBR1100xx.jpg these guys make bespoke streetfighter bits for the CBR1100xx and check out the opil cooler behind the rad, very tidy and the frame covers filling the gap between the frame and tank and the double up as air scoops, ?175 plus post!
Only problem is they're in the states!

I have a question guys ..

I admire what your doing and they do look interesting if not my cup of tea ..

but why not start off with an X11 rather than the 'bird ??? :dunno:

I know the X11 engine is set up a little differently, but I'd have thought that isn't going to make much odds with a streetfighter set up .. might even help?

The main reason I think X11 is that the frame is already made for no fairing, so you don't have to think about reduntant frame mounting points or trick bits to cover up gaps from removing the fairing etc ??

Just wondering out loud really .........

depends what come along...X11's are rare in comparison. I started with just the engine that I bought for my Spondon frame. built it from there.

you build from what you have. and also coz you can.

mine hasn't got any clocks at the moment...even the bike speedo doesn't work. got a speedo to fit but ran out of time before the TT.

I also don't like the frame on the X11..

I was looking at what a beast your bike is and i spotted the plastic covers down the side of the tank that then become the air intakes which look sexy. did you make them or buy them if you did buy them can i have the link?
