That just reminded me ... are high vis vests actually required for bikers in any european countries?

I noticed in France they have signs all along the peage about wearing them and all the French bikes I saw had them :dunno: ...... well actually they were Harleys

:-0)

Just thought it strange as the jolly old French tend to not to go in for that sort of stuff generally .. you know ... health & safety, drive sensible sort of thingy...

Had a note from the AA saying they were now a legal requirement in cars, and to be worn whenever your out of the vehicle on French M/Ways with a fine if found without one. Don't know about bikes though, I hope not? :dunno:

driving/riding in france ,, keep to the right hand side,er overtake on the left , at a round about go anti clock, looking LEFT for traffic .. at a tee junction turning left you must remember to go over to the right hand side of the road ,,, re hi vis jackets ,, i go over to france 12 times a year and dont see many with them on !!! french or brits ... just ride, chill, and enjoy the great roads and scenery .. there is one thing i would say, is fill up with fuel well within your tank range !!!

I took one to France last year with my mates, we all had the same ones as it made it easy to stick together coming out of Magny cours. Don't think u have to wear them on the bike, no-one else was. I have a few sat around!!

You've made me sad now Mike, I really hoped you were my mate. If that's not the case then there really is little point in going on!

Better get a trailer Tank. All I took was the high viz. I'm just a maverick risk taker!!

So, does anyone have the definitive answer to the Hi Viz vest in France question :dunno: ?
The law only came in on 1st July 2008, and I'd hate to fall foul to some over zealous Gendarme doing a spot check. d34l

OK.
Here it is.

IT DOES NOT APPLY TO MOTORBIKES. d34l
