Used it with the bike and found it great, you just ride in stick it on the stand and enjoy the journey, which is only 40 minutes, the trains are very punctual.

Downside is there is nothing to do except stand, sit on the bike or floor, and obviously no view, but a good time to have a snack and drink ( only wc on train no other facilities)

Hi

Used the Chunnell on Tuesday for the very first time at the end of a GP @ Assen and Nurburgring trip after missing the Hook of Holland-Harwich ferry.

No problems at all, the bike was parked diagonally across the carriage, on the side stand and in first gear---easy peasy...

Enjoy your trip

Jono, you will never take the ferry again mate.. :-0)

get one of the bikers oracle sponsors tickets off Wiz and you can cross at anytime during that day at no extra cost ...
so if you fancy having a longer lunch stop etc etc no worries..

have a good un pal and tell us how you rate it

Used it twice last October and it was ideal, for me at least. As the others say, bring something to read/eat, but that's about it - enjoy being able to look after your bike on the crossing, and not having to wait as long to embark/disembark!!

+1 on buying BO tickets in advance - turning up on the day is a rather expensive way of doing it.

I've used the chunnel and agree with the comments .. best thing since sliced bread!

When you board ride along the right hand side of the lane inside the train.

When they indicate where you're to stop turn the bike left so it's at an angle across the lane (but not sideways across it!!) with the front wheel just touching the raised section on the left.

You then leave it in gear on the sidestand only .. not centre stand.

Also when I went they told me it was no problem to use any train with space on it regardless of what the ticket said.

Have a good trip...

Ok, so its, Turn up at leisure, ride down right hand side of carriage, turn in left at slight angle when told to park. Sidestand down, into gear. Stand / sit, break out the sarnies and drink, go to loo, read book. 35 minutes is gonna flyby :-0)
Cheers boys.

Mike, from my experience last year it only gets confusing at roundabouts, leavint the terminal is a case of following like moutons!

For what it's worth

........going to stick a sticker on my clocks when i am on the ferry , "Must drive on wrong side of the road when i get off" .....

The first time I went to France I was paranoid about riding on the wrong side and having an unplanned interface with a French auto!

My simple solution was to put a thick elastic band around the glass of the righthand mirror. Every time I looked in that mirror it reminded me to use the other one instead!! Also nice and easy to remember to keep the elastic band on the gutter side of the road.

Have a good trip.

Used it for the first time last year; so easy using it again in August.

They kept us to one aside whilst all cars loaded then had a carriage to ourselves on way out......and shared with half a dozen others on way back.

Youdo not tie down like on Ferries but for the braking part of the ride I found a hand or two on the bike provided a bit more comfort to me in that it would not topple - it was one of them high BMW GS bikes......have the bird now so should not be a problem!

Have fun; no sooner are you settling down, your are standing up and getting ready to leave!

There's some shops ans stuff you can visit before you go to board the train. I went and got a sarni/drink and paper to read.

Once the train started I quickly got bored with trying to see anything out the window :h so sat down and read the paper while having my snack.

By the time I'd finished we were there .... fl4g71

Petrol station at the other side where you can fill up before you get underway......

Enjoy the trip .... :yo:
