Melanie (my next door neighbour) looked out of the window onto her drive & saw parked next to their 06 plate Honda jazz a 17 plate Fiesta, she turned to Harry (her husband) & asked excitedly “have you got me a car?”
“No” replied Harry, she didn’t believe him & went out to have a look, she asked for the keys & Harry told her he knew nothing of the car.
Turns out it belonged to the Mother of the woman opposite, she was visiting & because their drive was full she decided to park on Melanie & Harry’s drive.
Harry is now in the doghouse for her believing he’d bought her a car.

When we first moved in there were only two cars on their drive, now both daughters have cars as do their boyfriends who stayed late & blared their horns as they left.
Three years ago we were away for a few days, when we got back there were broken beer bottles round our cars (in our drive) we found out they’d had a party & the two daughter’s boyfriends were chasing each other & throwing beer bottles, we went over & spoke to Simon (the girl’s father) & he tried laughing it off, we pointed out that we wanted it clearing up before our Grandkids turned up, he basically said “no chance” as the boyfriends were still in bed.

Next to their house is a large field that tends to get a bit flooded, one afternoon I looked out of the window & saw them fighting a losing battle with the water that was getting nearer & nearer the top of their step, what did I do? I could have stood & laughed at them but I chose to be the better man & helped them.
Afterwards Simon couldn’t express his gratitude enough, I just said “remember this whenever you have a party”
Personally not had a minutes bother from them since.

A few years ago there was an amusing incident when someone came back to their house in Luton to find a mysterious people carrier parked in their driveway. Eventually turned out it had been left there by someone travelling from Luton Airport who had been given permission by a friend to use their driveway for parking while they were away.

Right House number.....wrong road.....
