Large pinch of salt for me I'm afraid john....

I think I have to agree with you, Trump is very anti Chinese, and you wonder where the info came from, any company taking gold as security would have it tested

The reality is that any company taking gold as security (something I never came across once in 39 years in the business) will almost certainly never see it and almost certainly won't take physical possession of it. It just doesn't work like that.

No reason for reality to get in the way of a good story though.

If it’s fake news there’s an awful lot of it! Nothing on the bbc or the daily papers though, you would have thought it would have made the headlines
Trouble is with misinformation it’s intended to make you doubt everything, and it does.
If true it’s a stupid strategy, the implications and consequences are huge.
If not I would ask who gains from this.

Sent to my nephew in Oz.
He's been commuting to China for a few years on jobs.
Interesting to hear what his take is.

If anyone has any worries about fake gold, I suggest you parcel it up and send it to me for verification, if I can take it to a local bullion office and they accept it, then the end of your worry,(y)

I would suggest a certain American president has a bit of a 'China' agenda.

Stuf like this alters markets as well if people believe it. There's an incentive.

Not saying it's not true, just taking it with a large pinch of salt. And vinegar with a gherkin on the side.

It definitely alters markets they depend on confidence to survive, the trouble is real politik is so Machiavellian and global in its design it leaves the rest of the uninformed in a state of flux, this creates opportunities to those who would take advantage of it.
Que Bono. Not the great unwashed for sure they’re just collateral damage :(.
