Career change for Rossi??????

Just read this weeks motorsport news and apparently Rossi has just spent two days testing with Ferrari. He completed just over 300kms in Schumacher's car and managed to get within 1.5 seconds of the germans best lap at the Fiorano test track.

Rossi must be an F1 designers dream. Small, thin and lite but excellent stamina and strength. Could we be seeing him in F1 sooner than we thought?????????

That was a few weeks ago Martin but as you can see the plot thickens

News, 05/08/05

When most of the MotoGP riders enjoy some well-deserved holidays and take a break from motorsport, current series leader Valentino Rossi enjoyed a two-day test at Fiorano with the Scuderia Ferrari. The Gauloises Yamaha rider already had a taste of Formula 1 last year at the prestigious Italian manufacturer test circuit.

?I wanted to get a better understanding of a Formula 1 car and I would like to thank Ferrari for giving me the opportunity to do so,? said Rossi, whose previous 4-wheel outings also included participations in rally events.

?The two days were intensive and interesting. I completed a lot of kilometres and I began to understand the handling of the car, working with the engineers and [test driver] Marc Gen?. I go back to the two wheels where there is still a long way to go to the end of the season.?

Well to me the question would be, since he's made millions from his career in the biking world with his lucrative racing and merchandising, will he take the money and piss off and do something totally unrelated, or will he stay in biking and give something back to the many hundreds and thousands of loyal fans that have given him so much?
Me, I think he will do a runner!
PS... I wonder if Gerry Burgess knows anything about Formula 1 (lol)???

Hmmm? Think he gives something back every time he races imho
and as for Gerry Burgess .......... probably does :}

I think ROSSI is curious about the mechanical side of F1 and being given the chance to thrash one for 2 days..................wouldn't you??

I can't see him going into F1 though i could see him stumping up funds to have his own private Moto GP team headed by Gerry Burgess and someone like 'Danny Pedrosa' as top rider for him....

Nah totally disagree. Rossi has said he aint gonna be in bikes for ever. He's on his way out and be sooner than we think. F1 is where he's going. He wont go to the WRC cos peugeot are pulling out next year. Also the ban on tobaco advertising in F1 is a big lure. Rossi has allready stated that he tolerates tobaco money.

I say get him on four wheels and see if he can become the ultimate.

I'm on the fence on this one.........

He left HRC because he fancied a challenge, joined Yamaha and now he's in a different class yet again. What's left for him in bikesport? Joining a 'lesser' team? I think that he'll stay where he his until he's eclipsed every record, then safe in the knowledge that nobody's gonna better him for a very very long time he'll do something completely different.

F1 would be hugely lucrative, and the lure of potentially becoming a World Champ on 2 and 4 wheels must be huge. Ferrari would be the only team. Italian in an Italian team in an Italian car.

He has signed up for another year with Yamaha,, & there is talk that he wants Yamaha to build him a winning 250 GP bike,, so he can race both races in a GP,, remember that the big bikes are going down to 800cc & that every team will after re-design bikes/engines etc in 2008 I think?,,
