Got my old carbie back on the road last year...Gave the old fella the works, delinked, freshened suspension, new downpipes, all of the consumables.
The bike seems to be running like a dream, and with only 22000 on the clock,in
my opinion is just about starting to give its best.
Only thing is ,I think that I may have used Iridium sparkplugs....does this matter..I have read that iridiums are designed to run at a specific higher voltage for max efficiency and may not be best suited to an old carbie.
With the bike running so well..its starts on the button hot and cold, doesnt mis or hesitate at all,I arnt sure that I can be arsed to replace them with the correct plugs right now.
Any opinions???should I leave it alone ?Or should In dive in asap and get them changed???

noobie

Clueless in most things
CR9EHIX-9 is what I use on my 97 carb and I thought they were all iridium and the correct plug?

I found this and I'm sure it will be corrected if wrong, both are iridium

The shop that used to look after my carb bird was an official Honda dealer untill Honda downsized. The mechanic there was very happy to put iridium plugs in mine and said nothing about any incompatibility. It's been running several years (but not many miles) with no problems.

Change your mechanic..not the plugs

He is talking out of his bum and should be avoided in future as he obviously spoke as if he knows what he is talking about trying to impress you.

The original fitting ( proly what he has got listed in some ancient tome ) were not iridium but were changed by Honda within 8 months of the bike coming out.
CR9EHIX-9 iridium plugs are correct for your bike
