I have visited two clients who have similar...one had a Victory parked in his hallway, the other a Ducati 916 on the wall of his living room.

My Dad has pictures somewhere of when we rebuilt my VW Beetle engine and it is placed on my parents dining table ....

Although I say so myself .... it did look good on the white table cloth!!

I will confess to putting various 'non-kitchen' things in the dishwasher over the years....and praying that Mrs Beaker would not come home before the cycle finished...

I did have the James 150 engine in my bedroom. Not that it's very big!

The return spring on the gear lever failed.
So armed with new one I set to work particularly cleaning the faces of the gearbox and cover - not a gasket job.

I put it all back together and as I picked up the lever.........there is the new spring lying beside it. So I said all the relevant 4 letter prayer words to the god of spanners.

When I lived at home with my parents I rebuilt my 500 all alloy TriBSA in my room.

I only got a bollocking when I started it up indoors and it caused a minor smoke screen.

Early eighties, went to a blokes house to get some parts for a race bike, he had his turbo charged CBX drag bike pride of place in the lounge.
