As I won't be around Tuesday morning here is tomorrow's offering.

Continuing our meander round car producing countries I present the Citroen SM, often mistakenly called the 'Citroen Maserati'. While some models had the motor out of Maserati Bora, the Maserati connection refers to Citroen 's purchase of Maserati shortly prior to the launch of the SM.

Less than 9000 produced, all in fastback form. A few coachbuilders developed 'shooting brake' versions, the best of which is in the final photo below.

Even with the Bora engine the SM only had around 180bhp. However, the use of pneumatics and hydraulics in virtually every aspect of the car produced a gloriously smooth ride, certainly the most comfortable car I have ever ridden in.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder on this one, I love it.

Another very rare car and an appreciating classic.

The whole concept of the shooting brake is an abomination. Take a perfectly good sports car and convert it into an estate..?
Should be made a hanging offence IMHO.

If you want a fast estate then buy one that has been designed from the ground up to be one.

Imagine every morning having to get all the leaves out of that big hole in the Aston's bonnet!!
Never mind the leaves... you'd probably find half the neighbourhood cats asleep under it.!

Today's trot round the automotive globe takes us Down Under.

The Holden 'Ute' looks amazing straight out of the showroom and has a V8 option.

Enough said.IMG_2608.JPGIMG_2609.JPGIMG_2610.JPGIMG_2611.JPG

Never understood the Aussie fascination with high powered pickups. Shit aerodynamics, poor handling, only 2 seats and an open back.

You really, really don't understand 'cool' at all, do you.

They is an option for a hard bed cover if you are really interested. Which, by the way, is not cool.

This is turning into a very poor version of the top gear cool wall

Pickups are cool but the aussie ute isn't by virtue of the fact its got a vauxhall badge attached & vauxhall haven made anything genuinely cool since the 70's

Agreed.

I remember when this beast was launched, (if I recall correctly) buyers had to attend a performance car course as part of the purchase or sign a waiver if they declined. Quite a responsible thing to do and it's something I'd like to see made compulsory with the purchase of certain cars today.

Drove a 2000 here, long time ago.
Track was a combination of gravel and tarmac.
Had 2 tutors. The 1st guy was fine. After the 2nd guy I was in a lather of perspiration but it was good fun.
FLOOR IT were the only words he knew.
