Car insurance moan

Thankfully I was sent my car insurance renewal details by email today ahead of its renewal on 17th May. I really wouldn’t want the hassle of this while we are away.

last year I paid £314.20, and despite no changes to my driving this year they want £534.11 - that’s about a 70% increase! This is through Direct Line and they have always been competitive. So off to talk to Gio and the Meerkats

Both of them came up with very similar insurers and similar ish prices. Like for like I’ve decided on RAC @ £378.73

I phoned DL and they managed to offer to reduce from £534 to £435, but no further - I have cancelled and purchased the RAC offering.

It‘s a disgraceful situation to have to make these continual phone calls and online searches - feckin parasites all of them!

My car insurance has been fixed for 3 years and I'm dreading how much it will go up by this year

My renewal was an increase of 73% and I couldn’t beat that anywhere. Insurance company played hardball as well in terms of ‘surely you can do better than that’.

Only slight positive is I have thought my premiums were stupid cheap for years.

I did consider not even bothering to buy any insurance for 2 months while we are away and the car is parked up in the driveway.

Insurance companies persuaded government to change awards system saying awards were reason for high premiums.
So the government changed it :risas3::risas3::risas3:

Van insurance went up with Comfort from £180 to £365 !!
Cancelled and went with the same cover from a different broker for £235
Still a big jump but more in line with what I expected

Insurance on Hag went up by over 120% after my initial underwriter refused to cover me. Went to meerkat, got a few quotes then presented my insurers with screenshot. They reduced the renewal to £25 over last years premium (£10 over the cheapest like for like quote)

Still, not as high as for the new MH which went from £350ish to £1600. The price to pay for quadrupling the value of the MH.

N.C.B. is usually accepted for up to 2 years after the insurance lapsed.
Three years with Admiral and, I think, Co-Op, but the norm is indeed two years. I found out the hard way when I repatriated from Singapore.

A FFS, that's tearing the arse out if it!!!
He did have his last Range Rover nicked and recovered and that doesn’t help - but apparently Range Rovers are top of the list of cars being stolen for export. A few years back my boss had her Range Rover Sport nicked within weeks of taking delivery. That was recovered from a shipping container in Johannesburg. And her wellies were still in the boot.

Does she have big tits?

Aside from that, Range Rovers are indeed stolen to order along with the X5. My car dealer was telling me couple of years back that the cars are 'spotted' whilst parked up and those eligible to be nicked are marked on the outer corner of the rear bumper with a X scratched into the paintwork.

Our insurance is due end of June; went up 60% last year so not looking forward to this year.
