Er, yes. I thought you would know all about ‘target fixation on unimportant things that must be made into a 24/7 drama‘ in the elderly.

Happy to report job done. Can’t believe some lazy git had gone to the trouble of putting in a concrete spur and then bolting the original rotten wooden post to it. Typical cowboy stuff. Also can’t believe I had a fence post the exact size length required in my wood store. And a spare bolt and washer to replace the one that was missing.

Thats why I never chuck stuff out.
