Usually with a handful of ‘fruit salads’.

Dread to think what chemicals were in those.

We get them in the charity sweet box at work so they are still out there. At home time I can eat a full £1.00's worth as I walk to my car in the works car park.

I’m amazed that anybody knows the price of blackjacks and fruit salads in the 60s/70s….didn’t everyone just nick them?

You had better explain to a simple mind!
The point of the original post is certain sweets disappearing because their names offend certain demographics, in this case people who are vertically challenged. It's not a post about sweets that we can't get anymore for sensible reasons.

But never mind that, since when did a thread on here ever stay on track? Did I mention that BA no longer use 'ladies and gentlemen' in their on-board announcements? It's apparently to stop the 0.00000000000000000001% of the world's population that identify as non-binary from feeling excluded.

It strikes me folks are getting upset about words.

In most cases it's not a word that is offensive but the context in which it's used.

Toff, rich, piggy, womble....

I think the problem is no-one can figure out how you prevent someone else being offensive (other than a punch on the nose) so they ban the word.

So when the chavs start using the word Sunday to refer to someone offensively will we ban it.

Some of the words currently used such as sick, reeve & what was that one used on the first episode of Apprentice?.

Language changes/adapts.

Once upon a time gay was never taken to mean anything other than happy.
That word got appropriated and now is apparently "owned".

Times do change and remarkably quickly in some instances.

I am involved in a piece of work at the moment - part of this looking back and seeing how things have changed, mainly around (at its worst) bullying and stereotyping based on appearance/disabilities/origin/etc. Believe it or not we have reviewed episodes of The Catherine Tate Show from the early part of this century as part of the process and its incredible how much of the content is really inappropriate now. Don’t get me wrong, I laughed along with everyone else at the time and most of it contains cutting humour (she is a very funny and talented comedian). The reality is that the world has moved on quite a lot even in that time and it wouldn’t see the light of day today.

I even noticed the other day the Gold put a ‘this programme contains references that reflected attitudes at the time and are not necessarily acceptable today’ warning on an episode of…..Only Fools and Horses!

The World hasn’t moved on, it is full of soft whingeing bastards with no sense of humour who feel it is their right to be offended by anybody with a contrary opinion.
