Planning a holiday for our 25th wedding anniversary in March, We had booked a week of our annual leave off from work. Then we thought cos its a special occasion that we would like to go for a bit longer.

My hols run from 1st of May and after booking the 5 days off it meant that I only had 2 days to spare, so last November I approached my boss and asked him for some extended leave without pay so I could have two weeks away.

He said it would be ok and to let him know the dates as soon as we knew them.
I explained that I wouldnt be booking anywhere until the new year so we could get a late deal.

Last week we saw a deal at the travel agents, got the dates and I showed them to my boss, who was arsey about it and said that he would have discuss it with the other directors and he would let me know.

Im still waiting

He seems to have forgotten our conversation last year where he gave me the ok.

I wish now that I had just booked the holiday, threw the dates at him and tell him its booked cos you said it was ok.

My Company stopped our usual 'cost of living allowance' - fair enough because they made 200 redundant, then announced an extra weeks paid holiday!!!! so thats now 30 days this year + bank holidays........... c7u8

bet that broke their collective hearts.

The statutory holiday entitlement is changing. The holiday entitlement increased to 4.8 weeks from 1 October 2007 and will further increase to 5.6 weeks from 1 April 2009. The holiday entitlement can include bank holidays. If you already receive paid time off for bank holidays in addition to your four week holiday entitlement your holiday entitlement has not increased.

do a search on the older threads here, someone asked the same thing middle of last year & all sorts of great places were suggested with reasons given etc ..... the one I stayed in was a bit 'off the deep end', but that's my wife's fault, she's richer than me  so she pays ......

and if you ever go to Cairo, the Oberoi is the place to stay ......
