Hi

I have an old pro 7 sport autocom which works well, however I have been thinking of updating it and would like to know if anyone has one of the new bluetooth autocom units linked to a zumo 550, and what they think of it before I lay out any cash updating.

I've got a Pro-7 Sport too. I have used the Bluetooth module (Starcom since Autocom went squit) to use my phone through the Garmin Zumo 660. It all works very well together. Can't comment on the 550 though as I've never used one.

Have you met this lot: http://www.zumoforums.com/index.php?action=forum they have lots of answers to garmin questions.

Thanks for the replies guys. My current setup sounds like yours Ian, and mine also works well. I have just removed it from the BB and thought before installing it in my new bike I would ask around to gauge people?s opinion of the new Bluetooth systems. If they were any good I would consider buying one for the convenience of not being tethered to the bike or pillion.

Gypsy, thanks for the offer but I already have a Bluetooth dongle which I don?t use to be honest, I have the zumo set to play voice instructions and music through music out jack.

From other threads on the forums it would appear there are still some problems to overcome with bluetooth and good quality music playback which is a pity as there appears to be some reasonable hifi headphones on the market that should allow their technology to be transferred to our needs.
I think I will be sticking with the hard wired pro 7 for the time being.

As Ian said Trent and his partner have one of these;

http://alatest.co.uk/user-reviews/o...h-multi-interphone-headsets/pu3-70194530,308/

It went wrong after 9 months, all sent back and updated version replaced it (better than the one on the link) FOC no quibble.

Communication is very very clear, latest version will accommodate phone (He uses a HTC with a google SatNav or his music) , intercom, up to 6 bike to bikes via same the same unit (old model was 2 or 3 bikes). This new version will also allow hard wire connection.. He's not told me if its external battery charging/bike to bike or what.

Limits are 6 ish hours battery life. That's probably its biggest weakness. Saying that Trent really likes new technology.

I have autocom Pro7, still does what I need, battery cannot go flat (12v wired).. Intercom, Ipod, satnav, Bike to bike midland G8, phone HTC allowing sat nav/phone/music.. I also made an adaptor for pillions with no autocom headset.. 7 pin to stereo socket to use any ear phone set. Fitted a Hi/Lo volume switch and power kill switch to the handle bars.
At the moment I'd stick with the Autocom.

I am using the Cardo Scala rider in combination with my Garmin 660 and Iphone for 2 years now, and I am still happy with it. The battery is more than ok. If one day mine breaks down, I surely would by another one.
