You know, I must be a complete fuckwit sometimes.. ( yer I know, heard it all before ! LOL )

Three years running I have let Devitt's talk me into staying with them.. Always giving a tiny little incentive and promises of better service

This year they have surpassed them selves though
Just tried to tax the yellow bullfrog ( the GS ) on line and it came back as uninsured
Foned up Devitts.. ah yes, that can be a problem on multi bike policies

Took bits and bobs to post office

Handed it all over..
Sorry sir, you have a problem.
The registration number onthe cover of the document is correct, but the number on the policy is different

So I have been ( effectively ) riding around for a 11 months uninsured !
What did they say ? Ahh.. oops ! We will send out new docs..
But at least the girl did say sorry ...

Moral ? Check everything REAL careful !

The reg number on the docs had an "M" rather than a "N" and i never noticed. Thas what happends when you insure over the phone and it could be misheard!!! Technicaly id insured a car that didnt exist:eek:
Always get them to return the number using the international code. right ill
Foxtrot oscar now.

The other worrying thing is if you get stopped you risk getting your vehicle seized.

Worth checking it's on the database here:

Been carrying my documents with me as I have a multi-bike policy with Devitt's. My FJR isn't showing up on the online insurance database website. Is a FJR a proper Yamaha:lick:

The system is fine. The input of data is the point of failure as with most systems. Perhaps if people who had their vehicles incorrectly seized sued their insurers for breaching their duty of care to them and for the costs of the recovery rather than complaining about the police then the insurers would sit up and take notice. There was another one on the news the other day, cops slagged off but no spokesperson put up by the insurers that had failed to enter the guys details on the database.

Having spoken to N U at length and actually waited while they tried again to enter the details on the DVLA registry I can tell you the system really is useless.

I then foned the DVLA up ( 20 minute wait at 8p per minute )only to be told the bike is not insured and I should take it up withthe insurer !!!
When I pointed out that an N U person had spent some time trying to enter the info they said not their problem and it was up to N U to sort it out.

You have to feel sorry for any officer who gets caught up in the middle of this shite.. No matter WHAT he does he will probably be wrong :)-(

Can't see why the NU find it so difficult, I have a trade policy that covers all my cars and my bike, I just ring my broker and tell him what I have, he then adds them to the database. I've checked all my vehicles on the askmid site and they are all there.

I'm with NIG Skadia BTW

I am 100% sure this all stems from mal-information from Devitts.. hence the title of the thread :p

Carol Nash or eBike as Fat Bert recomended last year will be getting my beer tokens in April !

Just remembered that riding with no insurance and Devitt's goes hand in hand. When I first moved over to them they kept asking for proof of no claims bonus which I had duly sent to them. Kept getting threatening letters about them canceling the policy so sent it again. Received a letter in mid January last year stating that my policy was canceled and the letter was dated 23rd of December. It was their fuck up but nevertheless I was uninsured.

By the way John, Carol Nash are tosspots as well. They like to loose claim forms and admit to it (verbally) but at the same time try to blame you (in writing) thus costing you compensation money.

I've been with Ebike for a few years and I have had to prompt them to register on two occasions.
