i own a 99 injected blackbird and was not happy with the lack of wind protection offered by the standard screen, did a bit of research and found that the screen fitted to the 2001- onwards blackbird (DIGITAL CLOCKS) would fit straight on, as these are slightly higher than earlier screens, checked with honda and they wanted 140ish pounds, found a BRAND NEW 1 on e bay for 20 pounds, fitted it and bike is transformed! less wind, less noise and less rain, NOW i understand why, when you read a roadtesters verdict on the later birds, they dont mention the TURBULENCE! hope this is helpful to somebody. and the part number for the NEWER SCREEN IS (TCE PC WP) and the OLDER SCREEN PART NO. IS (TCL PC WP)

Hi Gee and welcome to the forum mate...

If you aint already done so, have a nose about and get a feel for the place.. and I would suggest you check out what others are up to on here and what they can offer you :p

There have been several of the later screens more or less given away over the years.. :p

Always worth an ask before you spend your hard earned !

The Vario Screen is darned good and is available from Pete at Blackbird Spares.. Dunno about it being the ultimate.. thing is that everyone is different Jerry.. Some folk love them some hate them..
This is one reason why I keep at least 4 types of screen in stock at all times ..... so that if folk want to they can come over and look feel and touch ( and even try if they want )

With you on MRA screens - had mine for about 3 years now. Not only does it seem to resist scratches and stonechips better than any other screen I've ever had, but the fit and finish is excellent, and the extra wind protection is fantastic (No fart jokes, please).

Fitted an MRA screen on Saturday before some touring round the North West of Scotland over the weekend with the missus. We both noticed a big difference and it looks the dogs bollocks.

Quite possibly.. but equally how do you know your local small indipendent dealer is not a front for such activity ?

One must be careful.. It is easy to become paranoid in this day and age.. Living in a society that wil no longer allow free speach, free will, bans even indipendent thought by children, it is easy to walk into such a trap ( though to answer your question, yes, it may well be the case and one should also be aware of that and be diligant at all times. )

Hi guys I tried an DB screen from skidmarx and the increase in wind noise was horrendous I like the style of the original so im going to fit a dark replacement, I have be sifting through all the makes but I cant decide which is a good manufacture for the replacement, also im looking to get a hugger in the future (pennies willing). If it?s not too much of a cheek Jaws you seem to know all about this type of thing may I ask which you would recommend oh guru of accessories.

Fitted my Vario the other day, took it out, only into the town, felt ok but didn't have the side fairings on so moved about a bit.

Hopefully going to Squires tommorow so I'll let you know how it goes.

Paid about ?65 for mine used btw.
