Blackadder Goes Forth

Happpened to notice last night that the final episode was being shown,ahead of Remebrance Day. While obviously a fine comedy programme, the message it puts across about the futility and horror of war is incredibly powerful, it moves me every time I watch it.

Can't help thinking quite a few of the world leaders could do with watching it.

Is war futile? Whilst the World continues to begat egomaniacs, & psychopaths are elevated to a status of power then sadly war is always going to be inevitable.
Imagine if Britain had sat back whilst Hitler went about his crusade & said, "this is futile, not getting involved"

Not saying war is futile per se Derek - I agree there are times when there is no alternative.

If Hitler had cared one iota about the inevitable loss of life under his tyranny things might have been different. He was content to see tens if not hundreds of thousands of lives lost when his war was obviously lost. That was futile.

Sorry to have to disagree with you Derek. Pure religious fanatics such as we see now feel it is their "God given" duty to destroy unbelievers. Much like Christians did in the Crusades.

This episode of Black Adder floored me when it was first released. Caught me totally off guard and speechless.

Even now after watching it many times I still find it brilliant as it's done so well.

Agreed but like most Religous zealots they are using their religion for their own gain.
