Thanks so much Folks...I only just saw this. :)

I am some way off Blackbird ownership but still lurking around here if ok.

(Happy to post brief hi & intro ramblings as to why I am here....Just not sure where to do so on these boards. Answers on a postcard or by suitable board banter welcomed ;) )

Belated birthday wishes :dev14:

Glad to hear you're still hanging around.

Do join in, after all you can't possibly upset anyone, we're all daft beyond any possible measuring already :)

I will post my intro here, ( mods please move or delete if seen fit).

Hi to all

50 something, (bloke), here. No Bike ownership but have always admired Blackbird models. Curious in future to try one for potential fit &/or suitability, (5'8", right side of 14 stone & can stand unaided when sober). NO current plans to own a Blackbird until I have suitable qualifications, (all will become clear), skills & experience.......

.....Obstacles & circ's prior prevented me taking test(s) & getting a bike earlier.... I owned an RD50 in early 80's, (please feel free to extract urine (y)).....Moving on quickly ........ CBT & Theory done late last year. DAS assessment last week & told I need 3 days for Mod 1 & 2, (subject to passes). Ideally I would look to do other training later but not before getting some independent miles in.

Possible 1st bike considerations have included.....CB500, CB600 Hornet (no cracked fairings from newbie driveway drops), CBR600F & VFR800 (5th Gen or facelifted 6th Gen). Honda marque seems to rate highly, (not exclusively) in my considerations. I have spent year listening to bikers, reading (bike) mags, reviews, viewing videos etc.

I have a wired (slightly oddo_O) brain, self control & place value on (most) human life, (not least my own). Old enough to know better I aim to keep my license. Very aware of biking pitfalls & consequences of things going wrong. Nobody is perfect but I try to be a capable driver, ( I even position for bikes to filter ;)). I place safety 1st but like to think I can make safe progress in a car without screwing things up......(always a bonus).

All ramblings & thoughts are subject to change - I have a fair bit going on at the moment......Please don't be offended if I don't ask 101 daft questions or invite everyone on here around for a BBQ next week :Saeufer:

If okay, I may hang around.... (most likely in the background), for a bit.

Great boards & community btw :)

You are unusual on here, you seem to know what you are letting yourself in for and what the place is really about.

Others are just wandering around in vacant space (that is, inside their heads),
but you know that........

A couple of hours west of your good self....Bad experience sadly makes me non specific other than by PM
Don’t tell him, you’ll never get rid.
 Hmm....I don't recall suggesting I am tolerable in person.
You've scared him off already!
:sisi3:
:biggrin:Pow-Lo Thanks for the concern... but the signature image of you in that dress scared me more ;)
Shame, I was looking forward to the bbq

BBQ mentioned within a context that no invites going out anytime soon;)...Besides I am trying to get/keep the pounds off.......Better rider physics surely a bonus

Unusual on here if you say albeit I am occasionally unusual elsewhere too......

Before I end this post I will share one of my earlier biking initiations. In the 80's I clearly recall being being an invited as a pillion on the back of a very fast modified Honda CBX (SIX). The rider was a competent & accomplished amateur racer BUT he often treated roads as a playground & race track, (this long before speed cameras or clampdowns on tiny number plates)...... My feet flew off the rear pegs & under his armpits as he performed multi gear & sustained wheelies on a very fast but lengthy lap of a large city ring road. I am NOT planning to emulate his riding style which somewhat exceeded my two wheeled adrenaline & fear thresholds...:eyepop: :eyepop: :eyepop:

Very respectful that big & fast bikes can be a serious handful due to factors including rider, power, weight & balance etc. Also aware that folk can come unstuck on smaller machines...particularly if crucial speeds are exceeded etc. I will be DAS training on SV650 &/or a Hornet 600. I am hoping that some of my Roadcraft based car experience will help me to be a defensive rider...............Anyway - One step at a time !

Cheers for now & thanks again all for unexpected warm welcome :)
