Many years ago I worked for a builder who rescued a starling chick and reared it, that bird would mimic voices so well that you would be convinced the person was in the room / the TV was on or the phone was ringing (land line)

I've often recounted that story to people but no one has believed me or were skeptical that starlings are superb mimics.

When we had the small holding we had a Ford Sierra, the key fob used to make a distinct double blip when opening & single when closing, I’d sometimes blame Bev for leaving it open until she pointed out I was the last to drive it, it was a starling mimicking the blips, locking & unlocking my car doors. It also mimicked Bev’s feeble whistle that she used for calling the dogs in.confused the hell out of four German Shepherds.
