If you remove the horn bracket from the bottom of the headstock, then put a nylock nut in a socket, then use a bit of grease to "stick" a washer onto the socket you can then feed it it up the headstock tube, using extension pieces, and screw it on a threaded ball put through the headstock top nut.

Thanks John, I did read you'd done this with a ball from a chandlers....may be the way forward .....what did you ask for? Obviously there has to be a hole in the ball to screw the rod in ? I'm thinking sizes etc @tu*

I just took a standard ram mount in to the place and said I want a ball that size. He came back a couple of minutes later with a black plastic ball.. No idea WHAT they are used for !
Took it home, drilled a hole and tapped it with an 8mm tap

Thanks for the replies chaps....I reckon I've got enough info to get it sorted....like the idea of sticking a nyloc on an extension bar from underneath....not got any taps so that may be easiest :whi5tl:

I use the Garmin 350LM.
Hardly use it to find where I'm going as I tend to ride with somebody who likes to lead, I actually use it to see where I've been. :-0)

Once d/loaded I've surprised myself with some of the data!

I've got a fair bit of music loaded on my 590 ... when I'm solo I tend to listen to it... I use an Autocom SPA kit , and the music is nice quality and in stereo :yo:

Nothing personal - when I was riding I wanted 100% of my limited brain capacity available to help prevent me being killed by the idiots out there. Personally I wouldn't want any distraction at all.

In particular I can't get my head round a motorbikelist having access to their phone while riding - car and Lorry drivers are all over the place when they use theirs, surely it is an accident waiting to happen on a bike?

Imho.

Andy, I know what you mean by distractions.... I don't have my phone set up, so don't hear that ringing, nor do I have the capacity to answer or make calls.... I mostly put the music on when I'm on motorway slogs etc. makes the journey less tedious. No different to listening to the radio in the car.

I appreciate you keep your wits about you more on a bike than in a car though @tu*

When I did the NC500 last year with my grandson on the back, I had a simm'less old Samsung phone under the seat, powered from the bike and its own battery. It had approximately 500 songs in its playlist on random. Started it playing in the morning stopped it when we parked up at night.
It was connected into my Autocom with it set on low volume to me and higher to him. The main reason was to break the monotony for him. But whilst I could mentally block it out when I had to, it also gave topic for conversation.
This also made it less stressful for me worrying about him falling asleep, as he's such a good pillion I hardly know he's there.

It's good to have the option of music, I then have the choice to have it on or ride in silence ...meanwhile less than 24 hours later the GPS mount linked above is here and fitted .... simple and seems well made ...just need to get out in the garage for a while and fit the Autocom and 590 cradle :-:

Not sure if this is relevant to anyone but hopefully so :

I've just upgraded my Garmin 590 to be a 595. i.e. via a free firmware update. I was always annoyed that they added functionality to the same hardware and then sold it as the 595 without offering an upgrade path to 590 owners so I've no guilt about just steaming ahead! It's quick to do, works well, adds some great functionality and I'm sure has made it work faster. I'm just spreading the joy :)
