Just wondering which of the bike racing classes people follow/watch closely?

You're able to pick multiple choices.

Endurance Racing

Hi Sam

Being a member of the Phase One supporters club,

one of my loves is endurance racing.

My ZX7R was stickered up with Igol stickers etc emulating the French Kawasaki endurance racing team. Even got a couple of Igol stickers on the Bird

There are websites for both series i.e. World endurance and Masters of endurance and one for UK endurance racing

Roxxo - cheers for the links, had a look through and totally understand your passion for endurance. Must take some serious fitness to ride at that level for those lengths of time  Wonder how many laps of Brands they cover in an 8 hours period? Do they increase the tank capacity?

Do you know of any endurance events that get TV coverage? I saw something from Germany on the box last year, most of the teams were on ZX10's, but apart from that and the Suzuka event there doesn't seem to much broadcast.

Hi sam

There are numerous classes within the Endurance set up and yes they do have larger tanks.
There is tv coverage on Eurosport and also a bit on Motors tv.
The major european events like Le Mans get regular live coverage on Eurosport throughout the event. Endurance racing in France is BIG!
To the none initiated it can be a bit roundy, roundy but there are so many elements that can influence the race and there are races within races for the different classes.

10 /15 years ago Kawasaki were the top manufacturer with the ZX7R and then the ZX9R. The rules were changed some years ago and the GSXthou seemed to be the weapon of choice. Last year the R1 became more popular and now all the japanese manufacturers are represented. There are teams who use European bikes though. Most of the teams are "private" but there are official French Suzuki teams. The French love their endurance racing.

Racing bikes at the max, at 0300hrs on a damp track takes balls. These endurance guys are something else.

For sure Roxxo. A dark damp race track with no catseyes or luminous paint marking the way, they must get freezing cold too.

Aside from the tank capacity, what other modifications are made to the machines? I presume they upgrade the headlight(s) and position the rear-sets for a little bit more comfort over long periods of racing............

Keep us posted via this forum as to any upcoming endurance events and I'll follow with interest mate.................Sam

Blimey! Didn't even know there was endurance bike racing.

I think I'll look out for that too - sounds interesting

(had to look twice at the pic that appears to show pit-crew member fuelling the bike at the rear!!)

Answering to nobody
I'd folow it but i can't afford 24 hrs off work to watch it and no doubt the only overtake would be while i'm on a slash break..

I noticed a bike in Roxxo's pic had exhaust heat wrap on the pipe right upto the end can... Has anyone used it themselves and if so were there any noticable differences.
The system on my Plymouth Roadrunner was wrapped from the cylinder heads back but i never used it without so didn't have a control to go off.

Is it gonna make any BHP difference to the barge in a worthwhile way??

why what would you want to know for?? thought you were getting a different bike!!! again!!
