That time of year is nearing again. Scrabbling around for quotes.
Need a multi bike policy. Full European coverage with no dilution of cover.
Looking back over the last few years it has gone up from £198 to £335
I am a coffin dodger with a clean licence for the last 40 years with no accidents
Anyone want to take a guess at this years premium when it comes through

£9,476.53.

I go on the comparison websites and take it from there.

All bike insurance has risen.. I am now with MCE. Reputation suggests they are crap at paying out, but I am only interested in legal requirement as cheap as pos !

Yea John that is usually how I go cheapest like for like quote covering my requirements.
When you look at the customer service reviews after a claim they mostly all get crap reviews

my experience is that comparison web sites will not quote on multi bike policy.
I have a mate who has 21 bikes 4 tractors 7 cars and an excavator on an umbrella policy for £1600

Why is he insuring his umbrella when he has 21 bikes 4 tractors 7 cars and an excavator? Is he not right in the head or something?

I use the comparison websites to check my bikes individually and then compare that cost with my renewal and a couple of telephone quotes that I can be arsed to make. The way I do it, just as a fag packet calculation, get a quote for the most valuable bike on full comp basis and the lowest value bikes on TPFT and add them together. I want to pay less than the sum.

I use Bikesure and they're easy enough to deal with. Don't know what they're like in the event of a claim though.

I must be in the minority. Bike insurance on both of the ones I've got on the road at the moment, has gone down. (y)

Just had a quote from Carole Nash. One line quote £95, without reporting mods. Telephone quote£570 even after 9 years no claims!! Reported mods including new non oem screen, bar risers, and non oem shock (YSS) - the call handler reckoned it was that that caused the damage. So he is referring to underwriters. Thinks the computer assumes the non oem shock makes the bike more likely to be stolen/enhances performance.
But if you don't tell them and bike is inspected after a smash the risk is that insurance is void due to unreported mods, which means you were riding without cover which means not only don't they pay you its a criminal offence.
Bennetts, my current insurers, have slipped in a clause that theft cover is only provided if you have Datatag at time of theft. So that's unacceptable too.

Insurers don't you just love em
