Hang on a minute - it was made 50 years ago, there was practically nothing else to watch when we were kids - it was proper hardcore biking back then.

Fifty years ago we were all trying to be - and dying to see “The Wild One” (..no… not literally dying…).
It was released in 1953, but banned in Britain until 1968.

The film gave bikers a lot of bad ideas - and also gave the public a lot of bad ideas about bikers - and those perceptions still persist today on both sides. It didn’t do biking in general any good - but "bad" things are always exciting when you’re young, I suppose. Hollywood strikes again, I guess.

I must admit, though, seeing the posters still gets the blood pumping a bit!

I remember watching Brando, but it was well after the ban was lifted down here - early seventies I’d guess. Him and Lee Marvin.

If you’re subscribed to BT Sport you may or may not be aware of the MotoGP Films series that’s available on "catch-up TV”.

I've just finished watching the one about Mark Marquez’ 2019 season (S2014 ep16) and I’m still shaking my head in disbelief at what I've seen. In terms of riding talent, determination, intelligence and dedication to self-improvement he really is from a different planet, and I can’t recommend this film highly enough.

I agree that looking at it today it doesn’t hit the mark, but it'll while away an evening if you’ve no preconceptions about it.

Yep and one of the coolest sound tracks ever compiled.

Bootyfull buddy, and right by my fave spot, as they come onto the Glencrutchery road, echoing through the trees.
Felt a stirring in me loins.

Just finished watching Frankie Chili's 2004 victory at Misano. What a classic!

Strange to see them racing the "wrong" way round, too!

I was there in 94 when Robert Dunlop crashed at Ballaugh Bridge bits of the wheel that caused it hit my knees & my mate still has a piece, to be honest if didn't look much of an off at the time but the state he was left in was awful :(
