I spoke to Honda Insurance the other day.......

again...........mainly as I may take on Dereks CBR600.

I got a quote for ?225..........which is great...........but the excess was ?400!

Wasn't too impressed with that.

Hastings direct will do ?259.78 with a ?250 excess.

bear in mind that this bike is a 1991 and is probably only worth ?1200.

Still finding quotes, but have to wait until I have ridden the bike again as I need to be 100% that I want it.

Last premium for my CBR 600 in 2003 with bennets ?185.
Just had renweal from bennets which included written off blackbird ?602 WTF, sorry sir our mistake should be ?450, on a 7 year old bike :bandit:

We can do it for ?250 ish with another underwriter man8um

Honda "tonight only special price" (yeh yeh) ?195 with protected bonus but excess was ?450, thats high said I, hold on sir, I can do ?250 excess tonight for same ?195, needless to say it had to be done.

Tip for those not tried em yet, always knock a bit off what your renewal is cause they always seem to ask before quoting & dont accept their first offer.

Be prepared to barter

Put this in the "Daylight Robbery" thread, but I thought it may be of benefit here too.

Is this the refund record?

Had a policy with Carole Nash for a CB 750 and renewed it in August 2002. Cost ?380. Bought the Bird in Nov 2002 and got a new quote from the CSMA/Frizzell and one from Carole Nash. CSMA was ?400 cheaper so I cancelled the Carole Nash policy. Refund ?84. Thats ?300 for less than 3 months insurance. Was told the usual rubbish about cancellation fees, percentage clawback, etc. Yes, it was there in the small print, but like a lot of people I didn't check it until after the event. :violin:

At least I was still in pocket by about ?100

And on a final note, if any of you out there are in the Public Service, including the Post Office, or are very closely related to anyone who is then give the CSMA a try. They're especially good if your car is already insured with them and when I come to renewal time no one else gets close. If you're interested drop me a line and I'll send you the contact details. My only interest is that I get ?5 towards my annual CSMA memebership renewal or my insurance if I introduce someone. But if you join then you enjoy the same privelige.
