I personally hate this sort of thing, working in the technology industry I am well aware of what all this can be used for... not just personal information... but how would you feel knowing that you could not be anywhere in the world, room lift, anywhere.... and someone would know excatly where you are... cause that nice coloured gold bit of metal included on that card in that picture is probably very similar and possibly more advanced than the technology which is used in the sky box.

GPRS is a wonderous invention if you want your evey movement known... jeezzz Arnie's Running Man was not far from the truth....I for one don't want some Goverment twat knowing my every movement and location every minute of the day...

Not happy with the way things are going in this country.. we are (most of us anyway) just too laid back about this sort of thing.. thinking it will never happen.. maybe I am being paranoid... butr working with cutting edge technology makes you paranoid...its scarry shit what they can do right now... god knows what we are in for in the next 5 -10 years unless we all say enough is enough... but then we woul dbe seen as trouble makers..and theres the rub...

most people are only concerned with what affects them currently...if it dont affect me why should I bother kind of attitude... hey wake up...soon it will affect you all..

apart from that I F****D my front brakes today forgot top take me frigging disk lock off... won't be using that again... ?107.00 for a ?5.00 ally caliper bracket...F*****g daylight robbery....Honda....daylight robbery... :bandit:

There I have had my soapbox for tonight.. :violin:

To be honest, you can be traced to nigh on anywhere in the world at now, via the mobile phone network, all the time your phone is on, it sends out signals that can be traced by the phone companies.

I'm in two minds about Big Brother, I think it offers protection, I also think that the ones who are really opposed to it may have something to hide, BUT, is it going to respect my privicy? or will it be used to tax you on travel etc.

Ah.. but not everyone has a mobile phone or is expected to carry it around with them and if you don't have your mobile phone on you (currently ) you can't be fined/arrested for that.

I have nothing to hide and I have always been one of the ones that has always maintaned if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about... but its not about having anything to hide its about privacy, its about some G person (if they want to) knowing your every movement, every second of the day... Now I can't belive that even the most honest person in the world would be very comfortable knowing that. At the end of the day its only people like you and me who work in these places...

And what right does anyone have to know where you are every second of the day without your approval....you can bet that some of the info will be filtered out and sold off privately by people who work in these places...its amazing what money can do..to people.

Have to agree with Codbasher on this one. Maybe we, as a country could save a lot of money if those here illegally were not able to use all our welfare state services. We've paid long enough only to have people who have paid nothing reap the benefits. I have nothing to hide so would have no objection to an ID card to prove who I am. Might even help me remember after a few too many

I have absolutley no objection to an identy card being issued to me... or being stopped by any officer of the law and being asked to produce it...

what I do object to is a little silicone chip that may be part of the ID card, which could be utilised for tracking purposes.

There is a rumour at work that the home office are planning a similar thing for us prison officers at present our ID cards carry a bar code (god knows why) so the rumour is that they are going to erect portals at each gate that register when we go through them so they know exactly where we are at any given time... whatever happened to the anti stalking laws? by the way you can virtually guarantee that this site will be monitored by some government official somewhere trying to glean information about individual members
