Best you have done on a bike????

Wolfie

Is a lunp
riden anywhere?? first time you cracked 150mph??? first kneedown???wheelie??? or what else.

One of the best for me was whilst in scotland on holiday myself the wife, and two mates rode through 2 sets of cloud, got to the top turned around and sat there for half an hr just looking at the scene before us, excellent.

was also the road to loch katrine (sp) and its dips but that is a differnet tale.

I will never forget the rush I got on my first ever trip to Spain. We came across the longest straight I had ever seen and we all nailed it. I was nudging the 170 mark (cant be exact becasue of vibration). This was on a ZZR1100. Shit that thing was quick.

I have seen 178 on the digi clock of my BB and although it gave me a chimp on, it wasnt quite the same rush as the ZZR. Not sure why.

I think I have just sussed out why the BB didnt give me the same buzz as the ZZR. With the BB you get a bike that is very smooth and reliable and whatever you seem to do on it you always feel that she will bring you out the other end intact. Whereas the ZZR wasnt quite so predicatable. There was a certain rawness to it and you never really knew that bits weren't gonna start flying off when you hit warp speed.

First Time

First time I hit 150 mph was on my GPZ 900. First trip abroad was 1983 and I went to Spain. First bike offence was speeding (never!).Highest speed get off accident was about 120mph.
Couple of also's.
Also done 1275 miles in a day 2 up with luggage.
Before the gatso... done the M25 in 62 mins wanted to do it in under the hour but Heathrow slowed me down....so I just failed.
And when dispatching got caught by a mounted policeman going the wrong way round a roundabout. (there was an accident and it stopped the traffic going round it.....Dead line to meet and all that... Got let off). g0551p

showing a ferrari how fast a VFR800 will go 2 up, (that was the wife who got upset when he overtook us and insisted I overtake him)
wheeling the KH at lights by accident, keeping it up all the way across the junction and then putting it down to the cheers of a group of youths on the pavement.

Boomer - the answer's simple, big Kwak motor's have soul! A Kawa engine on song gives goosebumps, and they pull stronger and stronger toward the redline, the big Honda unit never did that for me...............

When I was 13/14 living in rural Kent I had an RM250 crosser that I used to use to blat around the lanes on. There was a road that led to 'Summer Hill' with a small hump backed bridge on it.

In the mornings I used to ride the RM the two miles to the bus stop, leave the bike behind a hedge (those were the days eh!) and jump on the number 12 bus to get to school which was 12 miles away in Maidstone. I was well paranoid of hitting the bridge too quickly, especially as the 2stoke250 was a bit punchy (if you've ridden one you'll know what the power delivery's like - on or off!) I wasn't experienced at jumping at all and the bike had sandcross tyres which were shite on tarmac.

One particular morning my mind must have been elsewhere and I didn't remember to back off for the bridge. We took off for what seemed like ages and to my suprise landed perfectly on the rear wheel, smooth as anything, front comes down absolutely perfect and still on the throttle............fook me I lived off of that buzz for the rest of the year.

Those definately were the days - school uniform, no lid, no gloves, not a care in the world and safe in the knowledge that the yellow RM would still be hidden in the hedge for the ride home..............awesome childhood

I'll see if I can dig out a piccie

Also bridge related........

1976,Suzuki B120 Student, 65mph (flat out 2 up!) brand new wifey on the back, hump back bridge near Ulpha in the lake district, grabbed BIG air (completely unintentionally), flew for what seemed an eternity with the new 'er indoors screaming "slow down" repeatedly and clinging on to big handfulls of my skin, it took me quite a while to convince her afterwards that A) I had probably shat just as much as her, and B) applying brakes(no matter how fiercely) has absolutely no effect when no part of the bike is in contact with the ground. Oh how we laughed - divorced now of course.

:yo: At the proud age of 13 i had a rs125 (with a broom handle for handlebars :neenaw: ) got it out one freezing cold morning and decided to go for my first ride on the road (even though i had no licence, mot or tax) after a lovely dash at what felt like break neck speeds through up the A595 towards ravenglass i stopped at a little village and realised i could no longer feel my chin at all due to the cold and the smile was well and truely wiped off my face when i realised i had to ride the thing home again man8um

As a 14 year old, down hill on slippy grass, on a honda C50 with no brakes, petrol leaking everywhere, how I stayed upright I don't know, this was the same slippy grass hill we used to go down on lit cardboard sheets, all good innocent fun.

First time my slider touched the tarmac. Had been out all day on me gixer and couldnt get it right. Gave up as a lost cause then on the ride home, sorted straight down without thinking about it. Awsome.

Other memories, doing the Ducati race school at Cadwell Park with 1 to 1 tuition from Steve Plater and getting top marks out of our group. Riding the B1190 Bardney to Horncastle road with an off duty bike plod on a 916 and some of his mates on blades, zx9's etc. Passed them all except the 916 and had one of me most exhilarating rides of me time with me old gixer 600.

First day Keran and me picked the bird up. The M18 / A1 was just a blur

Non bike related, first time me rally car went 'flat over crest' and landed straight without backing off. And the same with the boat, 1metre high following sea, 30+ knots lots of air

nothing comes close in my biking experiences to last November at Cartagena, Spain and 4 days on the track with some serious trackers and a day's 1-2-1 tuition with ex-MotoGP 250 rider Woosley Cooltar; took 15 seconds off my lap time in a day; just goes to show how shit I was to start with :}
