Rogue riders crackdown

Published on Tuesday 29 March 2011 06:32

POLICE are cracking down on speeding motorcyclists on roads in the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District.

Operation Focus launches on Saturday, April 2 and will run on weekends and evenings until early September.

Marked and unmarked vehicles will be used to carry out speed detection and patrols.

Inspector Adam Waterfall, from Derbyshire Police, said: ?Too many bikers are taking risks at speed and running into trouble. We hope to prevent crashes by making our presence felt where bikers are regularly coming to grief.

?We ran a similar operation during the same period last year and the number of motorcyclists killed or badly hurt in the county fell by 40 per cent.?

Roads being monitored include the A57 Snake Pass, A621 Baslow to Owler Bar, A6 Buxton to Bakewell, A619 Bakewell to Chesterfield.

IMHO it's the plonkers who can't handle the low speed corners who come to grief on those roads....

They try and pass or go too quick into the tight turns and run wide

All the while under the speed limit

They don't need booking for speeding, they need training wheels or the keys taken off 'em
