Like I say to ehs at work, "a safety harness doesn't stop you falling, just stops you hitting the floor." and then you swing around with your balls in the back of your throat!

I think you have something like half an hour hanging in a harness after a fall before things can go very pear shaped

I believe after half an hour you should have paramedics present before you cut someone down as the harness stops the blood flow to your legs. I was taught that if you are hanging in one for a while try to pull yourself up every couple of mins and move your legs to get the blood flowing again to prevent it, although that's no good if you're unconscious!!

Thankfully it's been a while since I've needed to wear one.

That is not what my brain would be saying!!

When I worked on the 34th floor of The NatWest Tower I had to walk away when the blokes appeared outside cleaning the windows. If we were meant to be 34 floors up the outside of a building God would have given us longer legs. Or Arms. Or both.

Although this was apparently posed for a PR shot, it is one of my favourite photographs of all time.....

Interesting fact, the first & last stevedores killed whilst working on the Empire state building were father & son.

Speaking of unusual coincidences with names my niece married an Afrikaans lad called Derek Sansom. His father was called Derek and his mother (a woman) was also called Derek, now that unusual innit?
