Dark Rider cannot get anything organised for the May Bank Holiday Bash..

Anyone else want to have a go at organising something ?
Needs to be done pretty quickly now else bands/disco's and venues will all be long since booked up.

I'd love to offer, but unfortunately the usual bash weekend is a permanent booking for us in Belgium. Now if a different date is OK, I'm sure I can come up with something and it would mean that we can attend too..........

Having it on another weekend means the silly Sunday games must go.. along with the total chilled out Sunday evening.

So it needs to be a bank holiday weekend then. That limits it to Easter, May Day, Spring (the usual one), or August.

Easter and May Day are usually too cold, and spring and August I can't help as they're already taken.

If all else fails and we can do away with the Sunday thing, shout & I'll see what I can do. We do have an ideal venue, but Spring and August are out unless anyone wants to hold the bash at the Ogri Rally (August). Everything is ready organised including at least 6 bands, lots of traders and silly games, but the Sunday would be out as that's the clear-up day. Just thinking aloud here as a back-up plan.

I appreciate you were not around in the early days and also appreciate it could well be time to move on, but the whole point of the May Bash is to have it over a bank holiday weekend.. it is the big one of the year,, not just anothe weekend.

So what would we end up with then ?
A ride out and a piss up in a pub on Saturday night ?

And folk say the May Bash is the same !! Jeezus h fuckin christ ............

A lot of people moaned that the bash is always in thetford.. so I stepped aside to allow others to have a go
No one wants to take it on ( unless the dates are moved or we 'tag on to another event', or completely change the format )

Either someone take it up or forget it.. I am sick of the years of moaning and groaning, the lack of support, the wankers who tried and successfully sabotaged one year.. etc etc.. the bigger fuckin tossers who never ever came to a Bash and moaned about it etc etc etc

This is not an easy task I know ( fuck me I should know ) but if it cannot be done then so be it. lets pull the thread and forget it.

Hey, just trying to help! As no-one else (so far, I know someone has some irons in the fire) has come up with anything, I'm thinking aloud, as mentioned. Did I really deserve that!

I'm not saying it has to change dates or tag onto something. When it comes right down to it, it is after all a group decision. And I'm sure someone else will be along to moan at me in a minute for making ridiculous suggestions.

was gonna say that I'd just emailed a couple of places - even though I'm not about for those dates, and also as a newbie I have no recollection of how or why it was in the old days!!!!


to be honest - the amount of stick I got this year did kind of put me off getting involved, but thought I'd at least try and get the ball rolling??

Afterall, I seem to remember you had a fair bit to do with other eos or sos runs and they have been pretty good in general.
I just get pissed off that all the moaners are such arseholes that they cannot step forward and organise something or us.
Seems to be the norm in modern society.. A few folk willing to chuck a bit of effort in the pot and a few folk willing to do fuck all bar moan..

OK, here we go

Went out on Sunday to look at one venue & came back with TWO

The first choice for us would be the nearest to us (obviously) and would be

The Lenchford Inn at Shrawley, which is about 8 miles from us & a very nice place next to the river Severn...

They have a "paddock right next to the pub which is beautifully mowed & kept grass for camping, and B&B availalbe for those who want it (Jan & I will be using that...:-

There is a large function room upstairs which we can use FOC as we are having entertainment, also a bar upstairs as well, so we dont need to fall downstairs to get a drink...LOL

The downside is that we will have to use "portable" facilities for campers ie; A shower unit with 4 individual showers, and a toilet unit with seperate ladies & gents facilities...These will of course be included with the price...

Entertainment will be a disco on Friday night with a choice of corry or chilli & rice/nan/ etc Saturday would be a covers band with a buffet in the function room. Sunday, I think will be as usual, the charity auction & pop quiz with possibly a disco or just some piped music (we will have to see...)

A full day ride-out will be on Saturday, with ped/minimoto racing on Sunday morning, followed by a short ride-out on Sunday afternoon (bad heads permitting-shhhhhh !)


So..........If thats not enough for ya... Then our second option would be The Marlbank Inn at Welland, just off the Malvern hills

This pub has a nice camping/caravan site with a gravel carpark for those who feel the need to camp on the carpark...LOL They have toilets & showers ready & waiting for you campers, and 4 B&B rooms for us wimps.

The ittinery would be roughly the same as for the Lenchford, BUT... The Marlbank doesnt have a function room (incase of inclement weathersh1tehppns) But they can hire a very large marquee for the occasion (expensive though brok3)

Both venues have excellent food & drinks (prices & quality), and the staff are friendly & helpful.

In my opinion, The Lenchford would be the preferable one, as it can accomodate & feed more folks than the Marlbank. But as the attendance has been so down for the last few years (although higher quality), the choice is there...

Plase let me know your feelings ASAP, as we need to get this thing in motion if it is to happen at all...

ps... Jaws, We are willing to take this on... It must be said that it all depends on the numbers taking this up as to if it happens at all. We need to get some sort of positive commitment to attend, as booking venue/band/disco must be done ASAP... If enough interest is shown (maybe even from the "elusive" Midland Massiff, as its in their own back yard h1d1ng2) we can start a booking/ideas thread of its own.

pps...Working out costings at the moment, so I will let you all know when I finally have it all sorted... On nights now untill Frday morning, so bear with me pls
