About 3-4 coats, just got to give it a good rub when it's hard :-: to get the small bits of dust out

What decals did you use? I ordered some of ebay and they came off again after a few weeks.

used these
quality's pretty good. I ended up ordering another set because of my ineptitude. Paint/lacquer intolerance

Best bit of advice....Buy all your paint/lacquer from the same place. It saves your fingers bleeding from all the rubbing down. Painted the tank three times.........sh1tehppns

Looks like ya did a great job there, how many cans do ya reckon to have used?

How's it look close up? Are ya totally happy or are there some things you would watch out for next time (other than sourcing the paint from the same place).

Probably got through about 10 cans, including lacquer. To be honest, I'm really pleased with it, even close up. I'd guess I've spent about ?100 or so all in. I was quoted ?500 plus decals at a local sprayer, I know that it would have been better than mine, but not 5 times better !!

Cheers Brian. It's ordinary car paint, but Halfords sell a petrol resistant lacquer to put on the fuel tank. I haven't used it myself, I've used the ordinary stuff, so it looks like I'll have to be a bit careful filling up !

Took it out for the first time last night. Wish I'd bought a new tank protector, got a lovely zip mark down by the seat c7u8. Oh well, at least it looks a bit lived in now !!

Went out with a mate on his GPZ 900 R, tell you what, for a 20 year old bike on skinny tyres, it don't half shift !!
