Highlights on Eurosport tonight at 5.30. Do they have Europsort in Belgium Dave? After all, it is a bit exciting :p

Yep!! To prove my point I'm going to put my money where my gob is and fit Avons over the winter and spring - ride them as I would the 020's currently fitted - then report back to you lot !

fook me bert you got a really slow tyre fitter if he takes 2 seasons to fit a pair of tyres :dunno: :neenaw:

 Clive from AVON has been on the phone and explained a few points to me about his tyres and i have explained a few things to him!
The top and bottom of it all is AVON ST range is probably better all round than the 020 but NOT as good as the 010/011 combo i generally use.
The ST range is the equivelent 'sports/touring tyre as the 020 but with a different construction. So the reason i have so many moments with them is coz i still ride as though i have my 010's on and the Avons don't like it...

In all fairness to AVON & 1200Pete i believe that maybe the AVON ST is better than the conventional Bridgestone version (020).

There is an updated AV49/50 being brought out before next season and i have agreed to aquire a set and give them a whirl.
This is by no means a back pedal from what i stated previosly as i do think the ST is terrible in the rain but i will give the NEW model a crack in spring.
Thanks PETE

Count me in for a pair of these new ones when they are available. I would also like to try them and see if theres any improvement over the current ones. Dry riding will take some beating, wet riding - mmmmmmm, lets put em to the test.

What with my new suspension and new tyre set up, fookin hell, its something to look forward to, roll on spring - feck off Xmas.

Nope didn't fall off I'm back in one piece.

Right here's my ride,
When I set off it was raining quite heavy I had a plan to try and ride on as many different surfaces as possible while keeping up good progress(within the speed limits of course) for those of you who know it I set off from the end of the M4 J49>A483 to Llandeilo good surface no problems there's a few nice bends on this road the tyres felt ok.
From Llandeilo onto the A40 toward Carmarthen this road has some very nice sweepers on it and has recently been resurfaced again no problem with grip I was cracking on a bit on here enjoyed it so much I turned around and went back
I then took the A40 to Llandovery the road here tends to be bumpy in places a few nice sweepers and some long straights.
Again no problem with grip.
Then onto the A483 to Builthwells this is a road I know very well it was the road Stan and I had problems with grip on the other day which was what caused me to start this thread.
I wish I could say things were different this time but the bike felt very twitchy which caused me to back right off. I turned around after 5 m as It got to scary.
I then went up the A482 to lampeter a lot of tight twisties here the road surface is good and has recently been resurfaced but the tyres were moving about so much I bottled it and returned back to the A40 and headed home.
It seems that on good surface in the wet they perform fine but on other surfaces they will move and slide even at moderate lean and very gentle throttle openings.
I know what these tyres will do and in what conditions,I will adjust my riding to suit but I still believe there is a problem with them for me anyway in the wet.
I have received no communication from Avon by the way.

Got the logs as well.

Fer Christs sake DS

is pi$$taking all you can do?

Appreciate that in terms of demographic-socio grouping you may be somewhat amiss from Clive but, please, stop taking the pi$$ out of anyone/everyone on here

Clive happens to do a bloody good job - may not be to your "Balls Out Track God" style but to those who know him/ride with him, we happen to respect him and HE DOES CONTRIBUTE something positive to this community [truth be known he may probably even be a faster rider than YOU]

Yes - we all know that the Barge isn't a Track Machine

Yes - we know that some rider like to have the luxury of hard luggage

Yes - GPS is a god-send when you're lost in Asda carpark [oops]

Yes - some of the members smoke pipes, drink Sanatogen and wear fluffy slippers [you been peeping again?]

Yes - we know your a Track God to be held in the highest possible esteem

But FFS give it a rest?

Christ only knows why you bother to frequent these parts!

Yes - I am in a BAD mood this evening!!

Tell ya what Bert
1. Do you know what demographic-socio grouping means?
2. Are you the ONLY member allowed to continualy take the piss then?
3. Obviously you haven't taken my post in the spirit it was intended 'cos you're in a bad mood
4. I am NOT a track god. I am less than average as I've always said, but then how the fook would you know any different anyway?
5. Clive probably is a faster rider than me? It wouldn't be difficult and your point is what?
6. What the fook has hard luggage gotta do with anything?
7. I have GPS; your point is what?
8. I frequent these parts as some of the chaps I socialise with do, i.e. Wolfy, Ben & Sam (you remember them do you?), Dave T, Lumpy, Pierre, Bob, Russ, Steve and others.
9. I have PM'ed Clive and if I've offended him, which wasn't my intention, I'll delete it.
10. Please feel free to delete my account. After all it is your site.
