Nice lamp but, sorry, it has to be done.

  1. Look at the state of that grass
  2. Plastic plant containers. No. Just no.
  3. And they are full of weeds.
Quite like the shabby chic finish on the shed though.

All fair comments.. but
Gardening ends Oct 15th for us .. Wait until you are 70+ and see how high gardening in the cold is on your list !! LOL !

The shed is all 3 x 2 timber, laid down log cabin style... I bought a lorry load for just £100 .. Guy bought it to do what I did, but ended up selling up and moving..
As the new place had a workshop he was more or less stuck with a load of wood it would have more to move it than to flog it to me

Worth a mention..
The lamps are all 12v LED's All together they draw less than a car side light ( .36amps total )

A bit of back ground
I pulled the lamp out of a neighbours skip.. All the lamp arms were broken as was the base
I thought replacing the lamp arms with copper was the easiest thing to do.. Then I noticed a piece of 15mm copper tube with a couple of right angles soldered to it in Darrell's scrap pile..
Held it beside the lamp and liked it.. So bought a length of tube, some clamps and a few other bits.. The tubing was bent and soldered together
The gas tap is actually soldered to the tube as I had no other way of attaching it
Bored out the other end of the gas tap and fitted it with a fitting to suit the gauge
Polished it all up and clear lacquered where needed

Our house is Edwardian and it's screaming out for something like that in the back garden. However, I'm sure Mrs P will tell me how wrong I am when she gets home next week

Mrs P might but then she might not.

She ripped the sink out of one of the bedrooms on Monday; she initially wanted it gone altogether but then changed her mind because it was an Edwardian feature to have a sink in the bedroom. She's up-cycled the ugly-ass cabinet that surrounded it and now she's ordered a lump of wood to act as new base. She'll stain and seal it before installing it and then she'll fit a new sink and tap, which are also on order. Oh, and she spent last weekend up-cycling the Ikea drawers we bought as a stop gap when we first moved to Maidstone 12 years ago.

I just shut myself in my office and let her get on with it.

Up-cycling? Please don't tell me she has the shabby chic bug or as I like to call it
shitty shack.

Instead spunking up unnecessary cash on replacements, she's bastardised what's there instead of consigning more waste to landfill. She's pretty creative and has that arty-farty eye, so I let her get on with it.

She has but you wrote it in the wrong thread.

She's also renovated the stairs and bannisters; finished decorating two bedrooms; designed the dressing room (fitting it was part of the service so she didn't need to get dirty on that one); and cleared the back garden. We had the roof professionally repaired because I wouldn't let her go up the ladder.

Send her over when she's done. I have a few decorating jobs that I'm behind schedule with, due to returning to "normal" work.

No time with her day job. She’s just back from Luxembourg; she’s off to Valencia tomorrow and then Mexico City on Friday and not back til Monday.
