Hi, i am of to Holland via France and Germany in June and just wondered if any one knows the score concerning high viz jackets and warning triangles, compulsory in cars i think but do the laws apply to bikes, are bikes exempt from the low emissions towns in Germany? Also anyone know where i can get a headlight converter for the dipped beam or will the adjuster screw move the light far enough to not dazzle oncoming drivers? Cheers.

don't know about all the new regulations ref hi vis etc, but you wont need to alter your light, as it throws a flat beam out anyway, "not side bias"!!:dunno: you may want to adjust the beam height if your carrying a lot of luggage on the back though!!:dunno:

That depends on the headlight fitted to his bird... Some do have a "bias" one way or the other... To check, just have a close look at the lens, and it has an arrow that shows the irection of dip. If no arrow, it is a flat dipped headlight...

Quite agree with the adjust for carrying luggage... easy to end up with the bean up in the air...

I think you may have to carry a hi vis waistcoat, but not the warning triangle on a bike, but check with the AA/RAC just to make sure.

Have fun on the tour.

Come on you Hatters
Hi Viz jacket is a must, two needed if you have a pillion, and they must be accessable, french plod are pretty hot on it aparently. If you have to stop you must put them on straight away. Spare bulb kit is the other must, think a first aid kit is as well. No triangle.
