been to krakow in southern poland twice last year, mates been to warsaw, absolutely beauliful in the summer but the roads away from the motorways are trecherous and the road signs are pretty much useless unless you speak polish. away from the main tourist areas no one speaks english and polish is very hard to get the tongue round.trams everywhere and that means tram lines. trams have the rite of way. if one stops you gotta wait till everyone is off and on before you go on your way. the cops take no shit. there are 2 different types. one normal and the other paramilitary police .. these guys realy don`t take any crap. tourists everywhere that don`t know which way the traffic works so just walk out. people are great. the girls beautiful but you`ll loose your bike away from the touristy areas. very strong mafia links. my american friend who teaches english there says the women are subserviant and the men are thugs who like to drink vodka.
uke: if you realy want to go to poland, book an easyjet flight well in advance for 25gbp, book into a hotel in the centre of any town you want to go to, cos there`s loads of cops and english speakers so you feel safe, stay for a few days then make your own mind up. my recommendation... Krakow in June, pick the RT Monopole to stay in close to the square or somewhere close by, get a taxi driver to take you to auschwitz, the schindlers list tour, down the salt mines, if your are a holy type person the john paul 2nd tour and the jewish quarter, vawel castle. absolutely fascinating historical holy town with loads of history throughout the years and cheap as chips. an example- 20 marlboro lights 1.20gbp....they are 5.60gbp here, pint and a kebab under 2gbp( my pound sign doesn`t work ) and you can still smoke in the pubs:-: try the irish
M-bassy beside the german and british embassy buildings for a drink and good old sky sport.s04pb0x6 thats me done hope its been some help.
