Just Saw the Transport Minister on sky news stating that he is changing the rules on the use of money raised from speed scamera's. Money generated will no longer be allowed to be used for purchasing more cameras but instead the Police must come up with new initiatives for reducing accidents and speed at accident black spots.

I read somewhere that those signs that light up telling you to slow down are more effective than speed cameras, however they don't generate the same revenue.

may be an idea to employ more POLICE then they can cover even more situations than any "signs" then perhaps we will get true VFM :dunno:

Perhaps they could ask you to leave a voluntary contribution if you light it up :neenaw:

Catch 22 then, because if the signs ARE making drivers slow down, then they have actually suceeded in doing what the government wants us to do, then there is no justification for any Gatsos .......... other than for pure revenue generation, which has fuck all to do with "preventing" speeding.

The germans have a lot of these "you are travelling at XX speed" signs, and the novelty thing is, drivers slow down to see if they can actually just make the sign read the correct speed!

we have one of these lighting up speed signs,it was installed after the speed limit was reduced from 40 to 30 mph,the only problem is it goes off unless you are doing under 30 mph,i went spot on 30 mph using a gps speedo and the f***** thing still flashed 30mph,they can be a pain in the ass if they are set at the wrong speed
