Mate of mine turns 50 in a couple of weeks and seeing as he got me a bottle of Abalour 10 yr old single malt for my 50th, I'd like to get him something similar in return.:drink9::drink::godsdrink0nw:

I don't drink whisky:vomiton22je:, so I'm looking for recommendations please.

(I think giving the Abalour back to him would be cheap and downright rude):D

Avoid the peaty whiskys such as Laphroig. They are an acquired taste.

If you are willing to go for the best whiskey in the world from the oldest licenced distillery in the world then a bottle of 30 year old Bushmills will please any whiskey/whisky lover.

My budget is around £30-ish.

If you don't know what he likes, then stick to the lighter whiskies like Oban or Glenmorangie, can't go too wrong with those.

Get down to Morrisons they normally have a decent malt on offer, generally about £10 off.

Agree with Johnnyboy above re lighter stuff.

I would add Glenfiddich to his list, but there are plenty others.

This is the current offer, a good malt and quite obscure, so imho a good gift.

Can't go wrong with this though...

The Aberfeldy looks bang on. Plus 12 year old trumps the measly 10 year old he gave me:D

Forgot about Glenfiddich, my old fella is quite partial to that. A bottle on his birthday cements my position as most favourite son.(y)

Highland Park Viking Honour for about £25 in most supermarkets. Fab stuff.
