That sir is an XRV750, tons of pedigree, best build quality of any Honda I know and loads more character than the 1100 gentlemen's express

An appreciating classic!

Now that's spookey !!

I've been researching them lately as a possible winter hack and fun machine ...

Mechanically the only real weak point appears to be wear on the final drive shaft ... dodgy ones sometimes have the sprocket welded to the shaft, not cheap to sort out.. sometimes the fuel pump (later models) ... but it's a cheap easy fix with a replacement unit.

Electrically it's the usual Honda weak point of the charging circuit ... plug from the genny melts so cut it out and hard wire and replace the reg/rec with a mossfet unit.

Be very interested in how you find it @tu*

Great minds think alike!

Yep - output shaft needs to be watched as on anything with big suspension travel - people run the chain too tight - you want at least 40mm of free play when you're sat on it. Big job if it's buggered

Fuel pump can be changed for a Facet type pretty easily to be on the safe side - a cost effective and sensible upgrade

Massive mileage not an issue, the 52degree twin is in such a lazy state of tune - delivers power in a completely linear way, seems to be no torque curve, same grunt whatever the revs (as much grunt as 55 horses can offer!)

Mac - I expected a far greater grade of abuse, perhaps I should of gone for a Multistrada? Shall pop down your way and see if I can re-enact the famous "railway lines episode" :)

D&D - will update you as I get to grips and out some mileage in it. This is a (Dec) 97 machine with 28k

sweet bike mate,i like the a.twin.....but they still command high prices for tidy ones....even rough ones go for good money...i had a yamm xtz750 on a h reg loks much like the a.twin imo.......was me first proper bike once i got me licence and started couriering for a living...traded it for a mk1 bandit 1200....px`ed it with 86000 miles on it....then sold the mk1 b12 to dodgy polish dude with 82000 odd miles on it....
