X box

the best console has to be the x box it provides better graphics which allows the user to enjoy any game to the full potential of quality, it allows you to play your own music whilst playin on the game.
GET THE X BOX its worth it............. :yo:

wrong wrong wrong

The best consol is the one that provides the most games most suited to the person who wants to play with it

The XBOX does have the best specs, (we still use one as a DVD player) followed by the PS2, however, the flavour of the games on consols are very different.

The PS2 tends to be most suited to elder (male) teens/young adults, and you will find that its the wepon of choice of this age range, also the choice of games for the PS2 is huge due to the legacy of PS games that are still compatable with the PS2

The XBOX has I feel a more diverse range of games, however, being a latecommer it suffers from a lack of strength in depth

Both the PS2 and XBOX double as DVD/CD players, which scores them big over the Nintendo (and probably point towards Nintendos biggest mistake)

However, the nintendo tends towards slightly more oddball/puzzle type games, you may fing that there is a lot more to your daughters taste available here.

So, yes, on spec go for the XBOX, but if your not fussed on DVD/CD playing then the lowly Nintendo may be better suited for a girl.

Xbox, I faced the same dilemma last christmas, I wanted a console for myself and I asked several colleagues who had ps2's and xbox's which to go for and they all said the xbox was better, I must admit I am not disappointed, when I get a new game like splinter cell, or medal of honour or games of that ilk my wife does not see me for several hours of the day... she thinks it's great!

PS2 outright winner -but!

The price of games is awful.
However, all is not lost, get it chipped at a computer fair for around ?50.00, then the games become very cheap, all you need is a friend with a DVD writer.

Not that I endorse or even approve of copying, but until the game/suppliers price games realistly, this will always happen. I would much rather ?10.00 for a proper copy that ?40.00 +, whereas I can get a copy for under ?5.00.

Enough said?

Forget the consol, without suitable games it is just a box of tricks

All you guys who are saying XBOX, PS2 etc, name 5 games that you reccomend with it.

Splinter cell is an awsome game, but it may not suit his DAUGHTER.

you can spend say ?250 on a consol plus TV plus games....

If you can afford the money my advice would be to get a laptop it would represent much better VFM try this link for an example, if you are worried about it getting knicked then most laptops came with a fitting for a security cable, so you could lock it to her bed and no thieving f@#$%er will knick it!

And if you want games then PC games are a doddle to duplicate

Must agree, it was once said how do I make my PC perform like an X-Box and the answer was tear out half the memory remove the high spec GPU and snap in a low budget low performance graphics card take out the CPU and swap it for one several generations older throw away all your usefull peripherals and software and pay as much as ten times as much for your games and you have it. When you consider that the X-Box is top performing console on the market it leaves all the others wanting a tad.
With a bit of software jigery pokery (Bleem) a PC will run a large proportion of Playstation games as well I really cant see any justification for the existance of a games console in this day and age. :dunno:

Thanks for the help guys.
I like the idea of using my PC when she comes outta hospital but it's the only PC we have in the house so it will tie it up for a fair bit of time and any parent knows the friggin agruments that will cause :violin:

As we have some old PS1 games i think we may lean towards the PS2. However all the peeps speak to advise the X BOX, i think alot will come down to the games that are available.

The price seems about the same for both unless anybody knows of a cheap online site??
