As per my post regarding the Peugeot dealer I have reported them to Peugeot UK.
I am concerned as I feel that £99 was excessive for a media unit diagnostic check.
I am concerned that they carried out a vehicle health check as they call it stating that it is new legislation, other dealers I have spoken to state that this is bollocks & they are touting for business.
I am concerned that they looked in the boot which was full of expensive tools on the pretext of checking the spare tyre, as Peugeot dealers they will have known this model carries a tyre inflation kit & no spare tyre.
I still don’t have a difinitive answer as to the problem with the unit, I am certainly not going to replace it at a cost of £1600.

What's the £1600 unit of which you speak?

That’s what I would like to know, they are being vague, the technical term is wifi telepathic unit, I have since discovered that the media units are coded to the car, supposedly for theft prevention but apparently only a dealer can code a unit to a car so they can charge what they like.

May I refer you to the rules of the help section.

No I didn’t but they did say they were near the limit despite them being changed two mot’s ago.

£99 for a diagnostic check at a dealer doesn't sound excessive. Most will charge a minimum of 1/2 or 1 hour and most main dealers charge around £100 an hour labour plus VAT. It's not cheap and I'm not trying to justify it; it's just what they charge.

Spare tyre or inflator kit - it makes no difference - it will be checked for age and condition and appropriate advice given.

Any main dealer worth their salt will do a vehicle health check (VHC) while the car is in the workshop. I don't think it's a legal requirement, more an arse-covering exercise. If a customer drives a car away and has a crash or mechanical fault they may say the garage should have spotted it. Our VHCs are carried out with a commentary on a tablet and sent to the customers' email for viewing. It is included in the price of any work carried out. We do them even if the car only comes in for a software update - no matter how small the job a VHC is carried out and not charged for. It's up to you if you take up any recommendations.

Good to know you work out brake pad wear by counting the MoT intervals

I had terrible trouble with a Peugeot dealer in Cardiff when my 406 started going through cooling water like shit through a goose back in 2003. Turns out the head of the engine was riddled with hair line cracks. Took the fuckers weeks to fess up wetlands what the problem was. The only good thing was that it was a company car and I didn’t have to pay the £1,600 for a new head.

I put it down to experience but two years later Mrs P and me went to a different dealer in Cardiff to buy a 206cc and 306cc, respectively. What the fuck we were thinking is irrelevant but the salesman was about 15 and treated us like idiots. We walked out vowing never to set foot in Peugeot dealer again. We haven’t and won’t.

For what my opinion’s worth, I’d get shot of the Peugeot, toot effin’ sweet. Trade it in for a Ford or something, anything other than that French HoS.

After having a Renault Kadjar as a company car for a week I was really impressed.... to the point that I was seriously considering breaking my unwritten rule on never buying French cars.
Well put together, great to drive and with one of the most entertaining dashboards I've seen in a car.

    Then I remembered....it's French.....!!! :D

History doesn’t count for much when you see the rubbish they’re making now.
In my 15 years with a motor factor I’d argue they were the worst around for reliability, quality of components, and when it came to things like brakes there could be 3 different systems fitted - with no way of identifying what was fitted other than send all the options out to see which was needed.
VW, Audi, Skoda, Seat - all very good
    Ford, pretty crap too.
Most Jap & Koreans pretty good.
