Although I don't own a blackbird

{to which im truly sorry, but will make amends for in a couple of years time}

Does anyone have any ideas on lowering a bike !!

Ive had some advice and thought id ask on here to see if any has any sensible answers? or is the info I have the only ways?

so far ive been told to take foam out of the seat,

lower the pre-load {which resulted in saturdays little accident} not a good idea

change the shock at a great expense approx ?300 {and ive got a new one already fitted, so seams like a waste of money} or put a shorter spring on the current shock, which is poss i surpose but still around ?100.

I have also been told about changing or adding blocks or something, but aint gotta clue what they was on about.

So any advice ? :h

All the advice I can give is as you dont live THAT far away try this place.

MC Technics

They can sort out any suspension issues you have, I'm taking the bird there, (When its back on the road!), to adjust it for my weight and height.

Not only that, its a nice ride out to boot!

lowering

Even though I am over 6' I only have stumpy little legs - 29" inside leg - Struggled on the bird to start with, teetering about in a dangerous fashion on tip toe, until getting a Corbin seat, now both feet flat on the floor no probs.

Another thing to look out for if you can is narrowing the width of the seat.

6" stilettos maybe? :)

BIKERBABE............

not sure if you got my email I sent to you????

Have mentioned your predicament to Derek and he wondered if you had lowered the front too aswell as the back. Then it would balance everything out and make it more stable than just doing the back on its own. He said depending on the bike you may be able to lower the front an inch?

I guess if the front was not inline with the rear that could have made it a little unstable. Not nice when you are a novice..........................I know!!!!!! :goofy:

from a non mechanical viewpoint, I noticed that Daytona do a special boot with an inch built up heel inside the boot. They are not cheap though at nearly ?200! Might be cheaper to deal with the bike.

The only trouble with Corbin seats is that they do widen the seating area a bit. Melvin is very good with seats and probably could do you something to your specifications.

Hope some of this helps!

Right !!!!

Firstly, not quite sure how to answer FB cos I don't want to get kicked off the bird site, and seeing as none knows me they might not get my sense of humour !!! :t

But here goes anyway.....

Not all us women are thick you know, and we don't all wear high heals, stockings and supenders, with skirts up our arse !!! and we DON'T all belong tied to the kitchen sink either !!

Besides men who make such remarks are just inscure and threatened by women !!

Also most famous chef's are men !!! {so there !!} get back in the kitchen where you men belong !!

And I most certainly aint no typical essex bird !! although I do have long blonde hair {and no FB it aint natural its out of a bottle} but hey I don't care.... its better than the grey bought on by the worry of the kids and the old man !!! LOL

Anyway I must admit you blokes can be deadly? I mean, give men anything more complicated than a knife and fork and there Borroxed... :m

So on that note im gonna go and wait for further abuse..... LOL

P.S. this post doesn't apply to all men, just most of you !! ha ha
