I'm glad I wasn't on 2 wheels this morning as none of my bikes have ABS.

On this crisp, frosty, sunny morning a middle aged woman in a Golf pulled out from a side street right in front of me. She was pushing her luck anyway, but then half way across the junction the nose of her car dipped sharply as she stood on the brakes....then her hand came up to shield her eyes from the sun.

As the ABS did it's job and stopped the car, I looked at her face and then lip read exactly the same words that I had just uttered....

"Oh shit".

And you all slagged off Phil the Greek when something similar happeden to him.
If the other driver had been as sharp as you their might well have been nothing to report..

Not me. I thought the snowflake bitch that was hounding him for an unwarranted apology through the press should've been investigated for the speed that she was driving.

Phil The Greek is 124 and shouldn't be on the road, that's the difference.

A really observant driver will never be surprised by being 'blinded' by the sun anyway.

Well the woman this morning was definitely surprised... as in "fresh undies" surprised.
Possibly a different story for me had I been on the bike.

I don't understand why bikes don't have abs as standard now, been knocking around for long enough - the VFR must have had them a good 15+ years ago.

Aren't small capacity bikes excluded...?
I know 50’s are but I have a feeling 125’s may require it when Euro6 comes in ( if not already )
The problem is, on a small bike you are fighting weight, and just as important, physical size.
You have a large pump and control block to deal with, plus a vastly more complex ecu

Sounds like a clever way of pricing kids out of the bike market and into cars. :(

I would hope that legislation comes in that means everyone over a certain age needs to be retested regularly.

75? 80?

I see Phil has surrendered his licence.

Wonder if that saved him from prosecution?

We'll never know.

I am gonna have a full medical and reaction test in October ( reaction test something I have asked for ) to be able to keep my C1 licence.
Without it we would have to sell our current 5 1/2 tonne gin palace and get a smaller something...
Problem with that is road tax and insurance is much dearer, payload is an issue ( we go off grid a lot so have 360 aH of batteries plus an array of solar panels , all of which are heavy! )

I would say- anyone who is retired should hand in their licence.

Senile old duffers, doddering around aimlessly are a huge danger to normal people.
