Okay okay - you've lost me... :h

All I want is something to stop a voltage surge frying my equipment - so have we got one?

I know the rectifier puts out more than 12 volts, but I only want 12 volts (no more) going to my GPs etc

So again, have we got one?.:dunno:

Why do you want to make a 12v crowbar circuit when you know you can see 15-16v when you rev it ?? :dunno: Maybe a 17 or 18v crowbar and an LED to warn you have gone overvoltage and it has shut down the DC (popped the fuse)

Yup.. I agree and that is why I posted the 2nd circuit :p

The crowbar will be forever popping fuses !

Kin hell

You ask a simple question ?.

Let me rephrase it.

Can anyone tell me where to purchase the item I require (a 12volt regulator) or can anyone make one for sale?. :bang:

Jaws, you seem to know more on this anyone else, so how about it, how much would you charge for a gizmo that does the job I'm asking it to?.:dunno:

Maybe some other biker would also buy them to provided added protection to their valuable kit.

Allan, can you tell me what you would like to run off this unit so I can get the correct output tranny.. ( Though it will proly end up being a 3055 or equivelent I might see about using a smaller device and a decent heat sink :p )

I've done it.

Went to Maplins yesterday and found a ciggy plug in thing (?8.00) that varies the voltage output.

Wired my GPS and comms into it and all seems okay - delivers 1amp (I think) so should be okay??? hopefully.
