Love those metal sculptures.....especially the longboat.

You're fast turning into the Scottish Squag.....but in a good way. ;) A Roving advocate for Scottish tourism...and as a Scot, you're making me homesick..! (y)

Still kickin' it!

...You've gotta go and see 'em, for real! The pictures don't do 'em justice.

Part of the impact comes from the surprise of seeing them, close-up, for the first time.
It's like watching a rock concert on telly, then going to a live gig. Two, entirely different experiences. :afro:

As for me being a Scottish Squag - but in a good way....

...I'll have to go and lie down to think about that one...! :risas3:

...Homesick? .....You know what to do.

You've got to remember, Squag IS the Irish Tourist Board. :risas3:

Thanks D A, great write up and pics of your trip. I seem to remember as a kid I visited a lighthouse on the IOM, somewhere in my memory I recall being told the mirrors floated on Mercury .
I visited here a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks, Jeffa. (y) Glad you enjoyed it, and, aaah, yes! Thanks again for reminding me - imagine what it must have been like to see a bed of mercury! Quite a sight, eh?

The Mull of Galloway Lighthouse, that you’ve shown in your picture, is on the west coast, roughly four hours from where we live now. It’s typical of the beautiful functionality the Stephenson family have invested in all of their buildings. Their legacy isn’t only one of protecting lives through their work, but also of enhancing the existing beauty in places all around the world - but especially in Scotland.

Here's a couple of pix of Barns Ness lighthouse, taken earlier this year.
