The school dates are really early this year and I think I've convinced the Mrs I can book this without getting in the way of the family hols @tu*

My quick plan :

Fri 28th
07:30 Leave Essex
14:10 Ferry from Holyhead (£50)
17:25 Arrive Dublin
21:00 Arrive at O'Bash

Mon 31st
10:00 Leave O'Bash
14:30 Ferry from Dublin (£60)
16:30 Arrive Holyhead
22:00 Arrive Essex

Will getting there Friday 9ish be too late?
Otherwise it's a Thursday departure + an evening stoppver which I don't really want to do (time off work etc).

[edit] Irish Ferries & Stena Line take Tesco vouchers so the return will be about £50 of tokens ... I think!

Anyone leaving from Holyhead ferry times are:-

Holyhead to either Dublin or Dun Laoghaire

Irish Ferries 8.00-11.30 £50 or £80 with pillion
Irish Ferries 11.50-13.39 £60 or £90 with pillion

Stenna Line 8.55-12.10 £55 or £85 with pillion
Stenna Line 10.30-12.50 £55 or £85 with pillion

Return times from either Dublin or Dun Laoghaire

Stenna Line 13.30-15.50 £55 or £85 with pillion
Irish Ferries 14.30-16.30 £60 or £90 with pillion

Shorter crossing times are for the fast ferries BTW

You're more than welcome whenever you arrive.

If you want some advice, travel the day before (even if it means taking a half day off work and stopping overnight in Holyhead). If you ask nicely, Roy might even give you a bunk in his dungeon.

Right I have (double bed booked by Robbo) two bunks going spare for anyone wanting to arrive on Thursday.
One bunk reserved for ScottyUK

The settee and front room floor is also available...

Roy,

Do you have the ferry booked?

Ian's on the 8:00 and I guess will be up and out by 7:00.

You're riding I assume and not going with him/van/trailer/etc?

I'm still looking at the options. I'm pondering the ferry to/from Cairnryan as the return is a lot earlier meaning I could get home sooner and see the kids Monday evening. It's the first day of school on the Tuesday so it's be good to settle them and get them back in the routine. Gotta balance that with it meaning taking all Thursday off <and the longer ride>.

Life's too complicated! :bang:

Yes I will be riding the bike. Not booked the ferry yet I shall wait until I hear from Macbeth, he will def be riding his bike to the meeting. It is starting to look like the 8.00 which means getting to the port by 7.15 at the latest. Its only 3-4 miles from my house so up at 6am for bacon butties and/or sausage sarnies. Just remember you dont have to come back with the same ferry company or port you went with.

Scotty are you on your own or bringing the missus?

Just a quick heads up for O'Bashers.

If you have any Tesco points you can use them to pay for the Ferry Crossing.

You get £30 worth of vouchers for every £10 you have of Tesco coupons.

Yes please Roy. @tu*:bow:

I'm not 100% but I reckon the following might be the best plan :

[1] Thursday - Essex -> Holyhead
[2] Friday - Holyhead (08:00) -> Dublin -> Obash
[3] Sat/Sun - Obash
[4] Monday - Obash -> Lairn (10:30) -> Cairnryan -> Essex (approx 7pm)

England, Ireland (North and South), Scotland & Wales in a long weekend :-0)

Just popped into Irish Ferries down at the port.

Check in is no later than 30 mins before sailing so leaving at 7.00 will get us there in plenty of time
.
There are NO foot passengers on the 8.00am sailing!

:dunno:
