 I am taking ownership of one of the above next week.....It has a cat converter fitted as standard ...are the exhausts unique for this model or can I buy a pair of aftermarket end cans...... or do I have to junk it for a full uk system.

thanks people.:yo:

Its actually got three cats, one in each can and one in the manifold. Get a comfy chair and a few beers, and search for exhausts through the forums/threads; you will be there for a while because there are several slip-on options (and many more opinions) out there (I had set of BlueFlames on my -02 model, recommended).

Also, there are several full systems around but remember that you will definately need to budget for a Power Commander, O2 sensor eliminator and set up with a full system. You usually can get away without the PCIII when just swapping the cans because the 'Bird tends to run a bit rich as standard (Mine still ran rich with the cans and a K&N air filter), but its certainly worth sticking it on a Dyno to check.

w;;v The CatCons are inside the original end-cans, thats why the "narrow part" of the can is slightly thicker than the UK-version. So installing aftermarket end-cans should be absolutely no problem.

But better don?t replace the headers, as they contain the oxygen-sensor (or Lambda-sensor). Removing this will lead to rough idle and probably loss of power. :xm
If you?re going for a full aftermarket system, be shure to fit the sensor to the new headers.
Or simply leave everything "as is", and keep the Scotish air clean (We spend our holidays there every year, you know!):yo:

Hope this helps,

ahhhhhh c.

:yo: d04l1ng I must thankyou both for your input....I shall probably get a set of cans and a k&n filter....If I decide to get a pc III will I have to then think about a new system? or would it be ok with end cans and a filter.

If you only change the end-cans, you don?t necessarily need a PC III at all. The exhaust fumes will still be prepared for being converted, but pass the cans uncleaned, that?s all. :-:

There should be no consequences for the engine at all. Here in Germany Riders with non-cat aftermarket exhaust will have problems with future emission-control laws (happy 2007 c7u8 ), but in the UK it doesn?t matter, right!?
By the way, search the forum for K&N-filters, I think I remember some guys write about negative experience with `em. They?re anything but cheap, and you should be shure they?ll bring the results you?re expecting.:yo:
