Here is my 05 Blackbird in Accurate Silver, it has only 10500 miles on it, including the 1500 miles I put on it over July and August..

The tyres were old and squared off, forks had the wrong grade of oil, back brake didn't work properly, there was cracks in the front guard and one in the fairing, paint scuffs on both mirors and under the fairing, hand brushed paint on the fork legs., marks on the lower decals...I bought it unseen on ebay and although it runs superbly I had to sort it out as I have to have my bike right.

Since August I have completed the jobs below

Jaws Hel full brake line kit, Jaws clutch line, 60mm over throttle cables, Jaws handle bar kit ( I fitted silver anodised Renthal bars instead of the standard braced bars), fitted mirror extenders painted to match in Indy Gray Metallic, adjustable footrest lowering kits, 100mm over Jaws front fork springs and new correct grade fork oil, Hagon custom built remote adjuster shock, both wheels powder coated heavy metallic silver, repaired the plastic cracks with Plastex plastic weld, fitted new Avon Storm II XM tyres, Ebc brake pads all round, rebuilt rear caliper with new Jaws pistons and seals, stripped and rebuilt the rear master cylinder and secondary master cylinder, sprayed the lower cowl Indy Grey triangular decals after filling in the surface scratches with knifing stopper, sprayed the mirror shells Indy Gray, refinished the fork legs in metallic silver with lacquer over, fitted a colour matched top box and Givi monokey rack and an as new Corbin seat....

I'm pleased with it now and am looking forward to enjoying riding it next year....

Looks good H,
What's like with the Straight Bar Conversion,
Wondering if its the same as bar raisers or are you more upright with better control.

Thanks Ned, It's a bit more relaxed, another step away towards standard handlebars like a cb1300 from bar risers. I need a more upright position as my neck and back/hips were protesting.

It's not as upright as you'd think, the bars have a small rise over bar risers but enough for me to make my 150 milers rideable without major discomfort. They are wider and I feel more in control at very slow speeds. Just personal opinions, you know, others will probably say different

Other than the obvious - the state of the grass - have you done the loom fi? Essential preventative maintenance as it will causes problems if it's not be done.

I have to ask - is that a sheep in the background on the second photo?

Hi Andy

Yes that is one of our sheep in the background, I never leave my bikes out unattended as they have been known to rub against them for a scratch. The cows generally give them a wide berth.

I did remove the loom insulation on my plug and looked at it, it was just as new no corrosion at all , so I taped it up well with rubber self amalgamating tape to look at again in a while.....bike restoration fatigue had set in ! Couldn't face yet another thing to do on it

Hmmmmmm.........lack of obvious corrosion unfortunately doesn't mean anything when it comes to that area causing problems..

It is a very straightforward fix when you summon up the energy...,,says he, lounging on the sofa :)

A word of caution in favour of the loom fix. The connector can look perfect from the outside with the green stuff only evident once it's cut apart.

Here’s a pic of my loom before the mod. Note the corrosion inside the clean plug

Mine must be like that inside, now I've seen yours. I couldn't get the plug apart, how do you release the cap?

Looks like you had access from the top side after the battery box was removed, was that how you did it? I got at mine by working under the subframe rail which wasn't ideal.

Thanks for your joint heads-up folks, much appreciated. Got to do it now!

Ah well I had already removed the subframe to get it powdercoated. The end plug needs to be jemmied out, then pull the wires out of the plug. Look to see if the wiring is tarnished backwards from the end as it needs to be bright to get a good connection when you do the mod.
