My burd bought a DeLonghi and she loves the thing. I don’t know the model or anything but it does all the stuff you’re looking for it to do. Cost just over £100 if I remember correctly but I’ll have to check with her. I’ll take a pic if I remember in the morning. I’m just about to jump into bed and can’t be arsed un-setting the alarm to go downstairs and do it now.

Oh, hang on, it doesn’t do pods, only ground stuff. Duh me.

I’ve got a Tassimo which is brilliant except it doesn’t froth but I don’t take milk so I don’t give a shit.

I've just bought a Krups Lumio from Currys for £70. It takes the Nescafe pods. The water reservoir size means it only makes about 5/6 full cups between refills. Not a big deal for me as I'm on my own. It has rebuilt my liking for coffee and the chocolate is good. I don't know if it does ground coffee though.

I would have thought that the idea of pods was to do away with loose ground coffee. Don't think I've seen any machines that would do both.
I have a fancy DeLongi one for ground coffee that has a frother, ut for everyday there is a basic pod machine.

Don't do machine coffee after I was warned off about the effects on yer guts.
We have a double walled, steel cafetiere which holds the equivalent to 4 large mugs of coffee. The wife bought me a nice milk warmer/frother for my birthday this year, but sadly it's just died. It was doing sterling work until it started to "explode" on froth mode on a regular basis.

There is an alternative john.....a stove top percolator..

We use one of these......

Uses ground coffee with excellent results on our induction hob. The blurb says it works on ordinarynelectric an gas jobs as well. Makes six espressos so you need to add boiling water for Americano. Or put less coffee in for a couple of straight Americano.

Ground coffee costs a fraction of the pods, although I have to say the coffee from our friend's Nespresso machine with Nespresso pods is excellent - even the decaf - but so it should be at around 35p a go!! I find it interesting that if you sign up for a monthly supply from Nespresso they give you the coffee machine for free.....

If you (or anyone else) fancy giving it a shot :)oops:) use the code BONVIV10 on Amazon for a 10% discount. The link I have put up is for Prime but I found it at the same price on a non-prime listing.

Sorry Andy, while I agree with what you say it really is not for us.
We MIGHT have a coffee every other day, so a pot would just be a waste

If you like ground coffee but don't need to make a whole pot, then get a cafetiere mug. I've been using these for years. The only real problem is that the rubber seal on the plunger eventually gives up the ghost.

Robert Dyas were doing them for £3 recently.

Thanks for that Andy, but we pay £3.40 for 12 at a local shop for the proper named brand ones.. Ok, 5p dearer but no faffing about ordering
As an aside, think of all that plastic waste these things produce. Another industry that needs to get it's house in order.

We started buying cotton buds with the tubes made out of cardboard recently. You have probably already guessed they come in a plastic box.
