Toyota was founded by a gentleman who’s name was actually Toyoda, which roughly translates as ‘rice field’. His fortunes improved somewhat after he changed the name of his business to Toyota.

Honda was founded by mr Honda, a self taught engineer who never went to school. His first product was converting pushbikes to motorised bicycles by bolting on army surplus engines that were used to power military radios in WW2.

A national anthem was sung for the first time before a sporting fixture on 16th December 1905 when Wales faced New Zealand at Cardiff Arms Park.

After the All Blacks had performed their customary haka, the Welsh team in a pre-planned response, started to sing the national anthem. The home supporters soon joined in, with the result that 'Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau' echoed around the stadium in one of the greatest emotional moments in sport.

Prompted by yesterday's story about a UK military aircraft air to air drone "kill".

The last RAF Air to Air "kill" in an RAF aircraft was 25th May 1982!

While this was during the Falklands conflict, the actual location was Western Germany.

The aircraft that (inadvertently) achieved the "kill" was a phantom from 92 squadron.
The "target" destroyed was a jaguar from 14 squadron. The pilot safely ejected.

The phantom crew were court martialled but given the lightest possible sentence. There had been a series of failures during exercise which meant they weren't aware the aircraft was still loaded with live sidewinders.

The distinction of an RAF pilot in an RAF aircraft is important as in the Falklands conflict there were RAF pilots in combat but they were flying Navy aircraft.

So, there's a bunch of trivia in there :)
